I beat it, and I still don't know what the fuck the game was about.
frustrating crap, turned Final Fantasy into just a string of battles.

>get 40-55 fps in game
>set cap to 30 fps
>get 20 to 28 fps in game
WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE
I like it.
The combat system and music especially. It feels fast and I like how characters move around the battlefield constantly and how timing affects the effectiveness of your attacks.

It's pretty bad. Sidequests are the only fun part and it takes like 50 hours to set up for it.
Would not recommend to anyone.

long hallway, I thought it was an exaggeration until I played it, 16 hours of nothing but running, watching cutscenes and killing, no side-quest, no events other than the Main Quest
it's really shitty, read a summary of the plot or watch the movie in youtube and move on to

It's not that hard to find out, it's just some plot elements are fucking stupid even when you figure them out.

It's a good game, just not a good Final Fantasy game.
Destroyed all good will fans had for the series, then wasted everyone's time with 2 sequels nobody asked for to milk the assets they spent years working on for all they were worth. Caused permanent harm to the design philosophy of the series as can be seen in FFXV and VII's retarded shallow action combat.

If you are a medium-low end pc player, it's surprisingly well optimized and dont ask for much. If you are a high en PC user, well... Search for some modes to fuck up the resolution and FPS caps.

Literally just a fucking tunnel filled with obnoxious characters.
Not the worst thing ever but fans' expectations were very high. As a casual FF fan I'd give it a 6/10. Boring plot and characters, combat system that takes too long to become engaging and then doesn't go far enough (but is still somewhat fun), beautiful environments, great music.
Story and combat were okay

It's soundtrack is the best in the series. Uematsu made stand out singles, but Hamauzu's theming is insane.

In my opinion, it's not video gamey enough. The battle theme is beautiful, but you only hear the first ~20 seconds of it until several hours in. It just doesn't feel right, having sweeping orchestral in a game like this.
I went into it with low expectations and was still disappointed. I dropped it fairly quickly due to the terrible combat and environment/level design.

Luckily a lot of the field music had an electronic tinge to it.
Music and graphics are the best of the trilogy, your milage will vary by how much you like the story. Objectively it's the worst of the three. Subjectively I enjoyed it the most, especially once you get a little freedom later in the game.

This so fucking much. With FF XIII I think the hate is justified but it still tried to do a lot of things; modernize the classic ATB battle system, set an original lore that's not your typical anime re-run, do away with tones of grinding, be a little more complicated than your average jrpg.
XIII-2 was just shit. It gave the illusion of a less linear world but in truth it was just a collection of really small maps with locked locations that forced you to jump from one time to another to unlock. In reality it was just as linear with annoying load screens on top. The story was royally fucked, it would make more sense to make it a complete spin off with Noel and Yeul rather than forcing a sequel out of XIII. And finally the battle system, the best thing about the first game was simplified as fuck. The puzzles were the only redeeming quality of the game.
Can someone make a serious case why they liked XIII-2 ?

I hated it, played it for five minutes and took me a year and alot of effort to give it a chance. Once I got into it a bit, I enjoyed it enough but no where near ffxiii or lightning returns. Also the graphics where a clear downgrade from XIII.
Also did anyone feel that XIII-3 could have been soooo much better if they'd worked on it for a few more month the game felt incomplete.

Theres a subset of people out there that get genuine enjoyment out of the act of collecting things and general completionism. I think its mostly these people who enjoyed XIII-2
