Will the Rift end up as a gaming tool, or an escapist media tool? In a few years, how will we view it?
A social media platform

Ignorantfag here. I just have one question. I have already thought about the VR shit and there is no other way for me to see this price shitstorm. Here i go.Can i use oculust to watch porn videos?
>>323059038
Mind-controlling propaganda machine.
>>323062514
Yes, but there isn't much VR porn out there right now and probably won't be for a while because it's not cheap to film in 3D.
>>323059038
It'll be an expensive toy that won't be used to its full potential by much. Give it a couple of years and a few rival tech-companies finding out how to do it better and cheaper as always happens with new tech and VR might become more robust.
>>323063018
Wait, you need 3D version for games with oculus now?
>>323059038
>>323059038
Listening to anything from that company, "in the ballpark or $350" Well inflation over the last 3 months must have been steep.
>>323059038
>In a few years, how will we view it?
As an expensive gimmick most likely. They already came out with a headset that you just put your phone into and it's a lot cheaper. Most normies won't even look this things way when they can just buy a phone accessory.
Why not just use google cardboard or whatever the fuck that thing is? Rift is just a piece of hardware. It's up to developers to make anything worthwhile.

3D for VR is... like playing HoMM3 on a $500 video card. VR supports 3D. It supports it better than anything else (you can, for example, tilt your head while watching and not lose stereoscopy, things at the side of the screen, with a shadow, won't get grey/fuzzy, etc. so you could watch 3D while lying down) but that's not the best use for VR. 3D is a static screen. It's in a fixed point in front of you and you watch it like any other movie. Modern VR is at its best when you're SURROUNDED by what you're watching which 3D cameras just don't capture.

>$99 headset
>$650 phone
>cheaper than $599 headset
What is the fucking psychological disconnect with these apes screaming that $599 is too much for a consumer electronic device?
>>323059038
>In a few years, how will we view it?
One thing is for certain: disappointment.
Why do they bill it as VR when it's just motion control games with a head tracking headset?
VR won't be achieved until we can dump our fucking minds into a game, and that will probably never happen
>>323064097
Most people already have a smartphone.
>>323059038
I got the Kickstarter mode land it works fluently.
Currently im streaming it

>vidya industry
>growing fast, quickly overtaking the movie and music industry
>Mark Cuckerbergstein: "it's not a vidya platform guys"
How can one man be so retarded.
>>323059038
A gimmick. You can't play a real game on that shit. It's like the wagglin shit of the wii, just a gimmick that casuals will jump on for a while.

>>323066867
>>323063894
Ok. Would i be able to see my dick? or more important, would you?
>>323059038
it's not a tool, it's a platform!
>>323067475
what a cheeky cunt
>>323059038
VR was solely made for power point presentations
>>323067475
I don't see how 599 dollarydoos for a gimmick classifies as "good".
>>323067475
This guy really is a cunt on twitter. I'm amazed the PR department hasn't demanded he stop tweeting
>blame your country, not us
>we aren't even making a profit on this!
>cardboard is like muddled water compared to us, a fine expensive wine
>controllers and shit cost us almost nothing to bundle, you wouldn't save money if we let you buy the oculus alone
>>323059038
>Put on the rift
>Turn it on
>see homosexual propaganda
>tells me that the anus is not just for pooping
>Yes, because the Rift is actually good.
For consumer electronics, "good" is relative. Consumers choose the product that's just good enough, and that assumes they even want something to do the job of VR.
>>323068472
well, how else are you going to stimulate the prostate?
>>323063318
You can literally play about any game with 3D glasses, if you have a 3D monitor.
I don't know what kind of tech these VR glasses use though at all.
>>323068285
>the board isn't with your (the CEO and founder) ideas
>take them into a soundproof room and put a VR headset with earbuds on everyone for a "presentation"
>shoot them all in the back of the head and get the mafia to clean up
They say all self made men have ASPD. The absolute madman has his ace in the hole if things go wrong.
>>323063712
Motion tracking, extremely high resolution, basically just the things that come with dedicated hardware aposed to an accessory
>>323064097
They don't want to have to work for their enthusiast gaming peripheral and would rather their parents buy everything for them like when they were 12. Actually, they're all probably 12 to begin with the more I think about it.
>>323067475
He's not wrong, at all.
>>323059038
At $600 it is going to known as that thing occupying the shelf next to the virtual-boy.
>>323064340
Well I used the d2 and I definitely felt like I was there, having depth perception in a video game is amazing if you try it
>>323069747
I feel so burned, my note 4 is sitting unused right next to my dynatac
>>323070468
Difference is that normiephones actually have a use for the people who buy them. They all use them for the same dumb things (social networks and shitting up the internet for everyone else), they don't need the best phone for that but there's also the "status" factor. They feel obligated to replace them for the newest, most expensive piece of shit every year or else they feel left out.
>>323068472
Nothing gay about taking it in the ass.
