I just finished Persona 4 and It's the first and only SMT game I've played so far.
Should I tackle any of the other SMT titles? Non-Persona titles count as well.

Greatly depends on what you enjoyed about Persona 4. If it was the high school sim/dating shit, pick up Persona 3 FES, might be a bit harder to get into since it's mechanically clunky compared to P4 but still pretty damn good.
If you prefer a focus on combat and demon management then you have a variety of alternatives, from the SRPG combat of Devil Survivor (preferably Overclocked) to the first-person gridmap dungeons of Strange Journey to something closer to Persona combat like SMT3: Nocturne.

I enjoyed the time management and calendar system, the plot, characters and Personas management/fusion systems. Also, boss battles were pretty rad.
Though, the combat system gets pretty repetitive at times, and the grinding sucked.
If Persona 3 does these things at least in a similar way to P4 I'll consider grabbing a copy.

Give P3FES a try then. You'll have to live with Tartarus being rather dull compared to the variety of aesthetics/music from the P4 dungeons and get used to setting tactics for your party members instead of having direct control, but for all its faults and somewhat slow start I've always like P3 over P4.
Just remember that your party stops getting tired easily after about a month and there's a kid in the classroom who lets you teleport through the town. As for grinding, the fusion exp boost you get from social links should negate any grinding for levels.

You really shouldn't be grinding in an SMT game, and much less in Persona.
Persona 3 is great, I liked it way more than P4 personally. If you want to move closer to main SMT I would highly recommend Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2, just don't play the PSN versions
