So who of you did this?

>This whole project was created solely by me, Devin Tripp
>I do not have permission from Disney to create this game as of now
>when we were kids, we wanted to be like Luke Skywalker or obi jim Kenobi
>I have decided to take matters into my own hands and write a story in the star wars universe that will fit inside an RPG video game that I have not created
>I need your help. I am not a very good programmer, and I'm an even worst artist
>I want to put this project into the hands of professionals, but in order to do that, I need money to hire them
>It will have the graphics of "Battlefront" or better with the feel of "The Witcher 3".

A quick google search places the Witcher 3 cost at $81 million.

I don't understand how Kickstarter is actually letting this campagn run. Are there no peolple to check these things?

He doesn't have the rights and will never have them
>>
>>322904672

to be fair, a lot of money goes into marketing of those AAA titles, but 200k is ridiculous
>>
>>322904959
Kickstarter doesn't give a fuck unless a big enough stink is raised. Around this time last yearI reported an abandoned project I backed over 3 years ago and they STILL have yet to contact me. When I try to report the project again I'm blocked from doing so, because "you already reported this project once. :^)"

Fuck Kickstarter. I learned my lesson.
>>
>>322904672
Can you explain me how does this work
if the game costs 80mIllion to make and then it sells for 4million
does it mean devs somehow fucked up or what ?

I'm certain they were talking about copies. And it's quite a lot more than 4 mil by now, I bet.

>>
>>322905960
If it costs 80 million and they only sell 4 million then they fucked up.

In the case above it says they cleared 6 million copies in the first six weeks with a net profit of $63 million. Assuming that net profit calculation doesn't include costs not in the $81 million they sold the games for an average of $24 a copy.

Why does he think he would ever be allowed to make a Star Wars?

You're supposed to do a Kickstarter for something YOU can produce, if given enough resources.

This guy is doing a Kickstarter for something he wants someone else to produce. I didn't know you could do that
>>

Gamestop aren't buying the games for $60. Closer to $30 if anything.

Retail manager here, markup is usually between 10 and 15 percent, sometimes as high as 20%. The one I can think of just recently that I noted was that Mario Maker cost us $52.99 each and we sold them at $59.99.
>>
>>322907836

>>
>>322907836
Retail manager where and how many copies were you trading? Because a bigger company buying more copies will probably purchase them at a much lower cost.
>>
>>322907959
Actually, on things like that we'll either buy them cheaper or, in most cases, if they failed to sell we sell them at a loss. DmC is in our dump bin for $9.99 and cost was $27 when we bought the copy originally.

>>
>>322907959
http://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/buy-mad-max-cd-key-compare-prices/
For information, compare the key prices. Steam is selling Mad max for $50 right now, they're making lotsa dosh because a lot of other legit 3rd party sites are selling the game for ~$20 and those cheaper prices already include a decent markup.

Fucking steam jewery sometimes. Some of their sales are just smoke screens.
>>
>>322908160
A Walmart competitor local to the Pacific Northwest only, but we do get large quantities of new release titles. I don't know cost off the top of my head for things like CoD or Fallout because we're still sitting on tons of copies ( we had over 400 copies of CoD for launch) but we never have more than 20% markup on new titles.
>>
>>322908403
Oh yeah, different products have different markups. We sell a bluetooth speaker for around $200 that we buy in for less than $75. That's also why TVs are on sale 100% of the time at what seems to be huge discounts, because MSRP might be $2499.99 for that curved 4k, but we bought it for $999.99 so we can afford to sell it for $1249.99 and look like the good guys.
>>
>>322903575
there's a kickstarter right now to literally give a guy $200 so he can buy a bigger/better ship for star citizen. i reported it a week ago and they didn't touch it. unless an IP holder actually contacts kickstarter, they don't take anything down because they just want their cut.

remember the lady worth $180 million who shilled for $2,000 to send her daughter to "video game camp" because "mean boys" (her brothers) supposedly made fun of her? even though kickstarter says it's not for educational expenses? they don't give two fucks. period.

So 30*4000000 = 120 million. A 40 million profit.

The only time it's worth pledging money is when it's coming from people who've actually made a fucking game before.

Every single one of these dream projects dies and you're never getting a refund no matter what.

Guys, I have an idea to make game about /v/irgins struggling with shit games. Im going to use IP of many games such as Fallout or League of Legends, however I dont have a permission from developers. Will you donate me money?
>>
>people actually giving money to this guy for a Star Wars game when he can't even spell Obi-Wan Kenobi
>>
>>322904959
Here's how that goes legally:
1 - person puts up kickstarter
2 - kickstarter gets funded
3 - kickstarter inc. takes a chunk of the money and the rest goes to Devin
4 - Devin is now liable for delivering on his backer rewards, if he is unable to provide them his backers can sue
5 - Kickstarter is liable for exactly dick

Why would kickstarter turn down even the possibility of free money?
>>
>>322910451
