AHAHAHAHAAHAHA.
Assuming oculus price isn't rediculous ($599 dollaru tier) then Oculus has officially won VR.

"a very, very big technological breakthrough" with their virtual reality system, so big that they decided to just skip the original version and ship this new one, albeit missing the Q1 date.

>18th December 2015

That's talking about scrapping the DK2, I guess. The DK2 which they're apparently showing off the breakthrough on. The breakthrough that got the DK2 scrapped.

This attitude is sickening - why would I throw all caution into the wind "just because ITS VEE ARRR"?

I had a DK2, I wanted to see for myself, and 95% of games with/for it are just "woo you are doing things in VR".
E:D is shit, Valkyrie looks even worse, SC is also in the "who knows" category. - and simulators are the only things that are CERTAIN to work well in VR.

Lucky's tale?
Who the fuck says Oculus can make an actual good game, and not just a generic one with WOO HOO VEE ARRr

Once it has
1 Actual, release games, proven worthy of playing by their gameplay and not by their gimmick of being "first to VR"
1 Actual numbers on what hardware they need, ETS2 looks like piss and shit and is already need unreasonable hardware in VR for the DK2
3. An actual competitor released - because why the fuck not would you wait and then one-up oculus at their own game

Promises, hype and "oh but there are already a bunch of toys, minigames, techdemos and failures" is not worth dropping whatever price they'll ask for - the early adopter ALWAYS gets burned.

You base this on nothing, they both made all their fucking demos about standing and walking around - Oculus first really.

And if ORs focus comes from them bundling a fucking controller with their shit, they are doing it wrong.

Anyway, my point is - SEEING IS BELIEVING, not listening to tards on /v/ or believing people trying to sell me their shit.

To all the anons emotionally invested in seeing either/all VR systems fail: I'm sorry.

I'm so, so sorry.

Both systems will release, will be at least moderately successful, and will compete with one another as any competing console would.

VR is here, screencap this for posterity because it's the literal truth.
>>
>>322763794

Well yeah, who knows maybe they did something better with it, like included leapmotion type hand tracking, from where it is looking I could see that happen

In any case I'd have wanted one either way, until they get rid of the screens these will always be bulky as fuck cabled annoyances on your head, being able to look around and respond to your environment is a must

Someone just post the DK2 guy surrounded by asses
>>
Why be an early adopter for a system that has no actual games on it. Tech demos and "VR Experiences" don't count. Save your cash for a year or two and you might even buy it after it gets a price drop.

you are a literal shill man

80% of those games are quite literally and absolutely mobile-level

Are you going to admit that smartphones are the best gaming platform since they have a gigantic library?
>>
But isn't that a good idea?

Put a series of cameras on the front of it and put a button on the side that lets you toggle from computer to camera feed so you don't have to physically remove the screen goggles to look at something in real life.

Plus augmented reality games or using augmented reality as part of a real game, like virtual controllers.

And ultimately stand-alone goggles to go full Ghost in the Shell.
