roll to the right
There are three attack strings and one mix-up. Get good.

Lure him in front of the ballista, parry him, man the ballista and shoot him twice.
If that's too hard for a new player, summon some dudes. They'll distract him, allowing you to time a shot with the ballista.
Or just study his attacks, avoid damage and strike when it's safe - the usual dark souls strat.

this boss is a beginner's trap, his name is the pursuer, but in reality you have to pursue him

How many hosts you do that to figure out what you're up to and just kite pursuer over to you and have him smash it?
When he uses his charge attack, just move to the right, DON'T ROLL, just walk.
When he's about to attack you, don't move to the right, move to the left and roll a bit if you want and get away from him as soon as you can.
If he turns his blade blue, just walk around him and you're good.

Like most bosses, circle strafe left. If that doesn't work, try circle strafing right. Advanced mode: rolling.
Parry him.
I was scared to do it at first because I thought the window would be tiny and difficult to pull off but it's easy as shit. You can literally parry him to death.
is it me or enemies in this game can track the fuckin hits? its like rolling isnt useful anymore

You forgot about where he sends out 10-20 or so orbs of cursing darkness crap which is basically where you get right in his dick, hold your weapon with both hands and just go to fucking town on him while the orbs go right over your head. Although occasionally 1-2 will scratch you, no biggy though.

This is one of those bosses that brutally fucks your ass and pozzes you the first 20 times.
Then you slowly learn the tiny little minutiae of the fight and turn the tables.
Now HE has the pozzed ass and I am the nigger.
Every time.
