That is partly to blame for many models being advertised as self cleaning, obviously your gun will fuck up if it's not maintained. Even now it can run less rounds than average through testing, compared to newer guns the US has put through trials for a new service rifle, but at least the infrastructure is in place now where this is much less of an issue.

If the M16 sucks so bad, why did everyone imitate its design philosophy? Why does is it the second most issued rifle in the world. Sure the first run M16s had terrible reliability, and small mags, but that was fixed even before the US had left Vietnam.
