This whole thing is a fucking disaster.
They were initially hyping up an FE and SMT crossover that got the fans of both franchises excited. Then it went radio silent for a very long period of time and everyone assumed the project was vaporware. Then it was formally revealed as what looked like a fully original IP with some FE and SMT elements tacked on. And said IP looked like a shitty Persona/Idol game fusion that's not desired by either the FE or SMT fanbase.
But instead of just saying "fuck it" and releasing it as a new IP, they ran all out with the crossover thing and finally made it canon to the core FE series, thus alienating both newcomers who're scared off by the series baggage who feel like they won't understand the story, and old hat fans who want nothing to do with this new direction. So it ends up selling like hot shit and nobody wants it except for a very tiny minority of hardcore weebs.
And now Nintendo has to waste time and resources localizing it because the autistic Nintendo fan base will demand it loudly on the internet if they don't (despite the fact that it's guaranteed to sell even more like shit in the west). And to top it off, the localization job will be bona fide awful because NoA is a team of fucking epic memesters who think bikinis are Satan.
