Don't forget to upgrade to windows 10! It's free

You'll have access to

>ReCore on PC
>Gears on PC
>Killer Instinct on PC
>New Rare game on PC
>Halo Wars on PC

and possibly many more

MS was nice enough to get your free upgrade for a year but that's ending soon. Don't delay!

>>
>>322626383
It won't be successful when all the other clients on PC, like Origin and Steam, are completely free to use it's online features. That idea will die before being implemented. It only works on consoles because it's forced on every game and people don't have a choice.
>>
>>322626282
Anything that'd make DX10 - DX12 run on win xp?
>>
>>322625274
You also get access to
>free spyware and honeypots
>>
>>322626770

But you do have the choice of not playing multiplayer.

Just like console paid online, pc paid online will work because your games are tied to accounts. Do you really think people will just switch to origin if valve added a sub service to steam? They would lose all their games and ea could never get that many titles re-released on origin. Never mind the fact you would have to pay for them again.

Valve has such a powerful monopoly that anything they do can and will work.

>Do you really think people will just switch to origin if valve added a sub service to steam?
I'd switch straight to DRMfree and having NO "online service".
>>
>>322627042
But then you have to consider something crucial, people on PC can just set up dedicated servers to play any games, a subscription for online games wouldn't work for most online games on Steam because they natively support dedicated servers, and the ones that don't can be modded to be able to. Besides Valve already said several times they have no intention of ever charging for online play.
>>
>>322627363

You say this now, but you wouldn't if that meant losing thousands of dollars worth of games and never being able to play them again.

>>
>>322627042
Opening yourself up to competition when you have a stranglehold on the market is not a sound long-term business plan. Steam is already printing money. Not to mention Valve has no control over multiplayer in anyone's games except their own, which are also printing money.

And if you are suggesting people pay a subscription to access the Steam games they have already paid for, I'm pretty sure that would be illegal in multiple countries.

No you can't. Also generally illegal and always violating eula.

Google market power. Valve can force paid online if it wants to and is perfectly legal. Software licenses don't include multiplayer functionality, see online passes.
>>
>>322625365
It literally outperforms 7 and 8 in a lot of games by a decent margin.
WDDM2.0 really smoothed out GTAV.

Illusion, Kiss and Teatime games work fine.

I installed 10 a few months back and I haven't gotten any problems on "Obscure Japanese porn" games
>>
>>322629701
No I'm in bed, youtube has some though.
It ntoiced it immediatelt when I switched to W10 because I wanted to test if GTAV would even run.
I was surprised that not only did it feel smoother but the video settings reset, meaning I was actually playing on higher settings than before.

I tested the framerate after that, it wasnt as big of an improvement as I thought, however the "microstutter" I experienced before I upgraded was completely eliminated and I was getting 4+fps on average in rainy LS and this was with shadows and detail one notch higher.
Its not worth upgrading over but it is an improvement I'm glad to have.
>>
>>322629701
Not him but I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 last week and noticed an increase in performance (up to 10 fps more with same settings) for most of my games, to name a few I tested: Witcher 3, GTA V, MGSV and Project Cars. Though if that could be consequence of a freash install or because I just installed a new SSD on my system I cannot tell.
>>
So which version of Windows 10 let's you completely disable all the telemetry bullshit?

Is it the Pro edition now?
>>
>>322629323
I said access to the games they already paid for, not multiplayer for them. And again, Valve does not control multiplayer for the huge majority of games they sell on Steam, nor would it be in their interest to bother themselves with such a feat. They can't "force" anything without first negotiating with every publisher with whom they do business.
>>
>>322630016
You usually don't have problems with games you don't play.

>>322631082
Is there even one? Microsoft is pushing their spyware pretty hard.
>>
>>322631082
None, a new update changed how it works, Microsoft claims they're getting less data now (ergo no audio files are being sent anymore) but you're unable to totally disable the telemetry.
>>
>>322631082
I want to know the answer to this too before I make the jump
>>
>>322631164

But you already have access to multiplayer in games paid for. I only used online passes as an example that a software license does not grant you unconditional use, hence they can also add a subscription service to using steam as a medium for online gaming. Valve can do whatever it wants. Have you read their eula recently? They continue to make illegal changes and nobody can oppose them without losing their games. Remember paid mods? Valve is not your friend, they're just a company like everyone else.
>>
>>322625274
Thanks but no thanks I'm sticking with Windows 7
>>
>>322630983
I upgraded without reinstalling and GTAV definitely ran better.
Also contrary to what your dad told you, installing games doesn't slow down the computer.
>>
>>322631082
Why does it matter?
If you have steam installed you're already allowing telemetry.

Windows 8 works well for me, but I don't recommend it. I just have had no problem with games and stuff. I have to use a program though just to have a normal fucking desktop. I wish I had 7 though I'm too lazy to downgrade. No way I'm going to 10.
>>
>>322631452
Not the other guy but Valve definitely can't force paid multiplayer for most of their games primarly because those game multiplayer servers are not owned neither managed by Valve in any way.
>>
>>322631452
Valve is already being hit by a smattering of lawsuits for various things. A sweeping change such as locking everyone off from their games if they don't pay a fee would piss enough people off to form at least one class action lawsuit. Only a company run by idiots would open themselves up not only to a massive lawsuit where they could lose a ton of money, but also to one which could change how software licensing law works as a result. It's in their interest to keep software law as a sort of wild west because they can continue to make micro-infringements without much notice.
I'm the last one that would suggest Valve is anyone's friend, but they aren't stupid.

Does no one know how to use a fucking computer here outside of letting steam install their games for them?

I'll make it easy for you fucking retards: Google disable win10 tracking

Find the link to github and download the file, which automatically adds the addresses to your HOSTS file to block any info sent out to MS servers, along with a few other fixes to cut off their connection to you. It will also uninstall any program win10 wouldn't normally let you uninstall if you choose so.

There, now you can sleep safe and sound knowing your precious collection of furry diaper porn will never be seen by big bad MS.

Microsoft's network driver doesn't give a shit about that file and has some hardcoded IPs so it'll always resolve.

Project Forge is Windows 10 only despite only needing DirectX 10 to run, and yet people haven't figured a way to make it work on Windows 7 or 8. If you're waiting for a way to play Windows 10 only games on older systems then you might be out of luck.

I'm using GOG galaxy. It's the only way I can run Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 without creating glitch art.

Microsoft already patched that thanks to the forced update. And they will keep up doing it.

There's also literally no reason to go W10. Only way MS ever gets people to swtich OS is making newer DX version incompatible with the OS and developers making games that exclusively use newer DX.
