Kanji doesn't interest me, the only interesting thing about Kanji is his sexuality (and only if he's actually gay, if he's not then it's pointless).
His social link is almost word for word a re-tread of Fukka's (replace "Girls can't like technology!" with "Boys can't like knitting!"). It's better than Fukka's because in general most of the P4 social links are better, but it's still just a re-tread.
Honestly, if the character I appreciated the most in P4 was Yosuke.
He's got a huge crush on a girl. Then she gets killed. Then when looking into her death, he finds out that not only did she not like him, she outright resented him. Every overtune he ever made to her, every act he did to try look cool, just made her think he was a clown.
And he deals with it. He accepts it. And getting revenge for her is still literally the most important thing for him, it's his driving motivation (and part of why he secretly resents Yu until the end of his link), because it doens't matter what she thought of him, he loved her and that's important to him, she deserves justice.
It's funny because compared to his childlike/stupid nature most of the rest of the game his whole social link is mature as shit, he accepts that she hated him but deals with it, he accepts it and moves on. There's even hints that he's mostly just putting on a show with his hitting on the other girls and that he doesn't truly want anyone but Saki...but that might be going too deep.
Outside him, I also was impressed with Death, Hanged Man and Devil- in that it ended poorly.

You can control all of your party, the subsystems are all expanded on. You get a hell of a lot more freedom with your schedule as well.
