If you can run a GC emulator you ought to give PoR a go, it's pretty easy to get into, especially if you're using Titania, it's a shame that the sequel made her speed cap one point too low to be good for endgame, and the SS-rank axe was a bit crap

As for old man Gunter, his availability is weird and grinding him early means little as his growths are so bad.
That being said, in the Conquest route Gunter rejoins with super fast leveling.
