Yeah, it's the same gameplay loop as crypt of the necrodancer and similar games ("soul nuts" dropped from glowing enemies can be used to unlock upgrades that can drop, soul nuts disappear when you leave) but with mega man x style gameplay. The levels seem to be made with a combination of specific level "pieces" (mostly side challenges to get an extra item) and more freeform generation, but it works pretty decently to give playable levels. There's also extra challenges you can throw on top if the base game's too easy.
It's still obviously unfinished, but it's fun as is, and has definite potential. Plus, the music's good.
