MGSV delivered perfect gameplay but disappointed me storywise.
I had a blast with Fallout 4 despite lots of glaring flaws.
Only played a couple hours of Bloodborne, made no progress, put it aside for MGSV and haven't got back to it yet. Definitely excited to get stuck into it properly, though.
Haven't played The Witcher 3 yet, but TW2 was one of my all-time favourites and I'm very much looking to playing 3 when I have a good chunk of time to properly devote to it.

Objectively the best ranking, or switch up BB and MGS5. To me, they're fairly close. I know, i know how hard MGS5 dropped the ball. Still, puppy paw pads.
I think most people will agree that MGS, Bloodborne, W3 are around there, they all have certain strengths and weaknesses but are the best high budget games of the year.
Fallout 4 is a class lower but still fun.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I loved MGSV and I thought the story was mostly great, but you know - I had ridiiiculously high hopes. I've been a fan of the series since playing MGS1 at release. I feel like Ocelot (my favourite character from) was really underused given how awesome the design/actor was. Mostly the disappointment was just with the repeat missions, cut ending and not finishing the Eli/Sahelanthropus bit.
The gameplay was amazing, though. It was awesome fun, there was plenty of variety, all the trademark goofy Kojima shit was there, it worked sooo smoothly, it was literally everything I could have wanted and more.
MSGV > FO4 > TW3 > BB
I'm ranking in terms of games I had the most fun playing, not necessarily the "best" game. Although MGSV's last sections really make FO a VERY close second for me.

I enjoyed both Bloodborne and Witcher 3 immensely. Great games with great DLC.
MGSV is by far a better game than Fallout 4, though I was much more disappointed by it. By all rights it should have been much better. As opposed to Fallout 4, which I was pretty sure would be mediocre at best anyway.
Tell me, /v/. I never got very far in TW3, because I just couldn't become immersed in it, and didn't find it particularly engaging. I had no prior knowledge of the characters, and bought into the major hype machine.
Ever feel like a game is TOO open, and you feel like you can't possibly go and see all the places/do the things, so you feel overwhelmed? That's how I feel about TW3.
Anyway, I never got past the Baron questline. Do I give it another shot and slug on, or does TW3 not seem up my alley?

It's definitely not up your alley. It's the kind of game you can tell if you'd like it about an hour in. It does get a bit better but if you're not interested it's not worth continuing.
If you've not played 1 and 2, the game is pretty shit too.

Witcher is indisputably better than any other game released this year. If you dont like it that's fine but you should at least realize it's the best game to be released in a long long time, it even competes with being one of the best games ever. The story is easily one of the best ever told in a video game as it deals with many adult themes and choices that neither feel right or wrong. Not many other games, hell even books explore war and suffering in the same way as the Witcher 3 did.

I love Witcher, but it's gameplay it lacking. In the vanilla game, at least.
The recent DLC shows that a lot of good can be done with the gameplay, and you can craft some interesting and challenging boss fights with it. So here's hoping CDPR keep getting better and better.
Witcher 3 is really more about the whole experience rather than it's separate parts though.

Play Death March, the gameplay is actually fine. There are enough enemies and diversity in enemy types that it's always interesting. If you want it to be better then download mods. BB in my opinion has the most overrated combat system of any game i've recently played. It quickly turns into the same generic combat where you do literally the same thing everytime.

bruh the combat sucks, enemies can dodge because of the animations and there's nothing you can to avoid that. Nothing you can do during the moment to moment gameplay and you can't increase your chance to hit at all.
Balance is completely fucked, after level 10 or so even on Death March it becomes a joke to the point where you can even safely ignore alchemy.
Enemies have a clear range that you can exploit to regain your stamina and your bearings and then can go back to attacking them while getting a jump on them plus they don't regain health at all when you're out of their range.
Hit detection is completely fucked.
There's no way to know what animation Geralt is going to use when you use strong attack or fast attack.

As much as I like Witcher 3, it's far from perfect mate. It's last act is full of poor pacing, and there was never any proper exposition and good characterization done for the Wild Hunt itself, which felt rushed as hell.
Fuck man, don't make me go over how awfully Djikstra's schtick with Radovid ended. That whole entire segment is so fucking retarded that I'm convinced they handed the writing job over to a middle school student.
It's a great, but flawed game. It makes up for it's flaws from the whole experience. The wonderful characters, atmosphere, music, graphics, polish, etc. etc.
The thing about Witcher 3 that makes it so impressive is it managed to do so many different things fairly well.

W1's overarching plot and some of the set pieces and characters were better, but it was filled with a lot of awkward writing and god awful pacing.
W2 was more focused, but it feels like I enjoyed it more for it's singular moments rather than the whole experience. It was a pretty short game and a bit too linear, many of the side quests were completely uninteresting outside of the first Act. And let's not forget how bad and extremely short the pre-EE final Act was. It was even more rushed than Witcher 3's final moments.
