Do you enjoy playing the Touhou shmups?
I just cleared Final A in Imperishable Night for the first time (on Normal), then played another route to try Final B and holy shit the difficulty jump from Final A to Final B is like going from Normal to Hard. I managed to get to the final spell somehow (not counting the optional spellcard that I assume will appear as it did in Final A) only to find you can't even continue, fuck. I'm glad I downloaded this from somewhere that had a preexisting savefile so I can practice the stage at least, but I wasn't prepared to get thrashed as hard as I did.
And the games only get harder and harder from this point, don't they?

I've already 1cc'd all the games up to this point except Mystic Square (and HRtP but that's low priority). I've only ever been a moderate shmup fan, mostly classic stuff like Gradius. I tried Touhou because I thought a bullet hell game would be a cool new challenge for me.
I ended up not liking danmaku games much not because of their difficulty, but because the actual shooting felt very token. You could take out the boss health bars, remove the actual shooting and make the win condition getting to the end of the pattern and nothing significant would change.
I really fucking loved MegaMari though.

Eh, that would make Reimu the best shottype objectively. Destroying enemies before they become too much of an issue is important in higher difficulties.
But if you want something with more shooting, you could try Shoot Shoot Nitori.
The few I've played were okay I guess? They weren't really objectionable, but they didn't hold my attention. I'll get around to them eventually but my interest is held by other shmups at present. I also don't really see why people go apeshit over the music, it's nothing special from what I've heard.

Reimu is only really objectively easiest in IN (but only when she's teamed up with Yukari) and SA (again, when teamed up with Yukari, what an odd coincidence). Other games give the other characters enough to keep up with her.

Well, she's about ahead with Mima for PC-98. I still think Alice has slightly more since she had more windows appearences.

I enjoy them about as much as I suck at them. Sometimes it's just nice to have a wall to work through.Although I didn't like 15 all that much, it seemed like it was out to kill you way more than the other games. When I finally beat it I realized that me finally winning was much more luck than skill, at least when I manage to 1CC some of the others I can trick myself into thinking I did well.
