Or does it get weird like past obsidian games?
Booting it up and hearing that generic fantasy music made me back out. I can enjoy a fantasy game if it get's interesting, but not if it's typical fantasy schlock.

It's not generic fantasy and anyone who says that hasn't really read into the setting or is just knee-jerk responding to ELVES AND DWARVES, MUST BE A TOLKIEN RIP-OFF. Which can be understood because the game bombards you with drivel you won't really get until you get into the game for couple of hours and read shit along the way. PoE could've really eased the player into the setting a bit slower. For all the game's problems lore isn't one of them.

Only the ending is reminiscent of Torment and other weirder games, the rest is standard fantasy.
Still a good game tho, but don't expect a new BG.
