Metal Gear solid (1-4) felt like it just got better and better. Haven't played Peace walker or V though

I feel like most people started playing with either 1 and 2 and skipped 3 or jumped into 4, then they were tricked by the contrarian section of fans into thinking 3 was the best, regardless of others.
4 was goddamn great, doesn't have to be your favorite but it's a good game and a good MGS most of all. I didn't find this bad dialogue or horrible story or gameplay anywhere. It was also the least repetitive.
5, on the other hand, was deludent, but it was alright.
