I mean I prefer dota's gameplay by far but it has the most uncreative and boring design's I've ever seen in any somewhat decent fantasy game. Jugg is just one of the many designs who got a plank face slapped on them so they don't have to animate their profile.
just compare any dota2 designs to their original warcraft ones to see how downgraded they are. League also does a far better job at making memorable and interesting designs (mostly because they hired blizzard's artists)

valve could have easily make cool and original desings if they wanted to (rubick, lc, oracle or arc warden are perfect examples), but 90% of the designs are just painfully boring looking playdoh figure versions of the memorable wc3 characters. Meanwhile pretty much all the new/reworked league designs are really well done.

It's name sure as shit isn't LoL.I played for years and spent hundreds of dollars before sitting there mid match with my friend screaming and raging I realized I wasn't having fun and never did. I never played again.
I don't know how they do it, but they trap people into playing for ages without even noticing how little fun it is. At best it's 15 minutes of moderate enjoyment with 30 minutes of boring grinding.

league's idea was always just a fantasy smash brothers and it did a pretty decent job at making memorable characters for it.
Dota has like no artstyle or uniqueness to it. You can just play as the most generic centaur/troll/ogre etc. or a featureless plankfaced warrior/monster or one of the many furbait characters all of them that are totally not just carbon copies of well known blizzard characters. Play them with the totally not overused ut "PWNAGE" announcer voice to ruin even that generic fantasy atmosphere the game has.

It doesn't mean you're not trying to win, but there are so many tryhard kiddies who only get a dopamine rush from "winning" instead of having a full fledged and a combat filled game. It's obvious to not have a lot of fun if you get face rolled, but there are plenty of kiddies still getting mad at a 40m match that is anyone's agme, and lost.

I gave the concept of grinding/buying characters another shot on HoTS. I fucked around until I got Abathur and stopped playing shortly after. I felt as if I wasn't playing these games for the game itself, but rather for the potential unlock that I could obtain after I play enough matches. Either give me the ability to buy all of the gameplay-affecting characters and items now so I can experiment at my leisure, or hand it out for free. If I was to try another ASSFAG that isn't dota, I'd probably give Smite a shot due to how they handle their characters: you pay some money and you get all current and future god. Chances are that I won't play it for different reasons (shazbot), but I can't fault the model.
