Why is Portable Ops non-canon and yet Phantom Pain is canon?
Both shit all over the established backstories of the previous games, and only one of them is actually goodi.e. the one you actually play as big boss

Reality-check: Kojima doesn't give a FUCK about MGS canon. How could you not realize this after MGS2? Kojima will use MGS to convey a theme and the actual canon is a complete slave to it.
MGS canon is a fucking mess, Kojima knows this and revels in it. Both MGS2 and MGSV are basically about how you should stop giving so much of a fuck about this stupid canon and just go along for the ride.
