The problem when companies go bankrupt and sell their IPs is that they aren't usually bought by anyone competent. The orphaned IPs get sold off for pennies to pretty much anyone, and will usually end up in the hands of some random dude who probably doesn't even have a company.

The only difference between Konami and a lot of other japanese companies is that they got a lot of unwanted exposure. But what Konami is doing is what a lot of japanese companies are doing. Jumping ship from an industry that is dying in japan.
