everything was shit compared to IV. they tried to make it more "fun" and "wacky" and it was just as lame as expected. a real clash of styles that just didnt work.

The more down to earth missions of IV are exactly what made it so good. It really increases the immersion when the missions are focused around basically just shooting guys, taking cover behind different setpieces. They made the missions feel very grounded and intense.
Like remember the museum shootout? Or the bank heist? Or the mission where you dodge trains in the subway on a motorcycle? By far the most memorable missions in the series.
