I HIGHLY recommend doing the shitty "kill da wabbits" quest first. Just go in and out of the 1st town and kill all the rabbits outside the town. They are all over. You can kill about 10 per trip.
It pays well and good exp.

The game is actually really balanced, not that it particularly matters in a single player game. Warriors are the only "weak" option, and even they are fine until post game stuff and it still isn't impossible.
I would say Sorcs are the strongest class, but it isn't because of any of the big spells. Holy Focused Bolt is just simply the best attack in the game. People probably disagree with me though, every class has stuff that can make it silly so you could argue that half the vocations are the best and not be really wrong.

This is somewhat erroneous. Once you've Purified a Weapon or Armor (possibly the other types too but I didn't confirm) you will always get that item when purifying that type of Cursed item, until you keep it and purify a new Cursed item of the same type.
I.e.
-You and your Pawn are Sorcerers.
-Purify a Weapon Level 3
-Get the Magick Bow
-Reload
-Give that Cursed Weapon Lv. 3 away
If you do that, the next Cursed Weapon Lv. 3 you purify (if you and Pawn are still Sorcerers) will still be the MA bow. And the next, and the next.
The only way to roll a new item is to accept whatever that Cursed Weapon Lv. 3 gives you (the Bow in this case) and purify a new Weapon Lv. 3.
