Why does Nintendo refuse to make a real sequel to Super Mario 64. Even after 20 years, it's still the best Mario game.
>>
your mom is the best mario game
>>
They're too busy shutting down completely free and harmless fan made games.

First of all, that looks like hot fucking garbage.
Second of all, Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are far better than 64. I don't even like the Wii– I think it's absolute fucking garbage. I'm just saying, you'd have to be wearing rose-tinted goggles in order to honestly think Mario 64 is better than the two.

>harmless
It's about brand identity. They don't want to let ANYONE else use their IPs. Watch the Han solo kinect dance thing and the concept explains itself.

Unreal engine SM64 was shut down because it was copying code from the N64 version.

As shown with Mother 4 and a few other mario engine games they are fine with fan built games that are free and built from scratch
>>
But they already made one.

>still the best Mario game ever

How? Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, and Super Mario 3D World are all on the same level, if not better.

This sums up 99% of nintendo discussion
>>
but SMG and SMG2 are better

Good question.
Galaxy and 3D world are both great in their own right, but I'd kill for a Mario 64 with new and different worlds.

That is incorrect and you know it. Don't be an apologist on an issue like this on grounds like that.

This all happened AFTER Iwata said they are willing to let fan projects live.

Mario 3 has absolutely nothing on Mario World besides the Hammer Bro suit.
>>
Take Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks as the idea.

And make Super Mario: Castle Plumbers, with Mario and Luigi as a tag team (if second player is present) for online, or couch coop shenanigans while going through a newly built castle for peach, with different world to enter and stars to collect.
