So why do people hate this game again? Its pretty fucking awesome.

The gamepaly isnt as bad as people made it out to be, and I feel those who pan it, didnt even try to customize their pressens, its pretty simple once you get the hang on what to chain and why, and you an beat enemies pretty quick so its not a tedious fight-fest.

Story and atmosphere are amazing. I loved neo paris, and it felt kind of like A mix between half life 2 and Dishonored with the way the plot went. A lot of good memorable moments, Protag is pretty cool. Memory wiping mechanics are pretty neat puzzles.

So why the hate?
>>
>>322255851
There is no hate. It just didn't garner much attention which is pretty funny considering its name.

>>322256170
No, I just remember seeing a lot of hate threads for it. I picked it up on sale with some christmas money for 360 and ended up really enjoying it.

You sound like a whale pre-op.

You'd think being a new Capcom IP would have at least brought in capcom fans.
>>
Very annoying railroading and handholding, going so far as to have a hologram showing you what you have to do next.
VERY, jarringly limited access to anything in that amazingly styled world.
Completely underused new gameplay mechanic. Extreme disappointment in that regard.
Sewer level.

This is almost worse wasted potential than Mass Effect, because there, after 2, we at least knew they had no fucking clue what they were doing.
>>
>>322256403
I don't know what that is. But okay.

Thats what I thought. When I saw capcom on the box, I had a bit more hope, so I decided to try it.

it's not a bad game, it's just exceedingly mediocre, which is a shame because I really dug the setting like what you said, the gameplay was just dull.

Honest to goodness question, What do people see in Asscreed?

I'm not bad mouthing it, I really wanted to like it, but I couldn't find myself enjoying the games. They felt really slow and clunky, and anytime I wanted to have fun, I couldn't do to the limitations of my missions.

I rented and played the first, I like the ideas behind the game, but I hate the constant imersion breaking by pulling you back into the real world. I gavce Black Flag a shot when a friend had it, and I thought I'd really like it, because I like Pirates and stuff, and I ddi like the world, but getting dragged back to reality sucked all the fun out of it.

And then I'm at the same impasse again. I really think I'd enjoy Syndicate ebcause I love the victorian london setting, but I'm worried about getting a PS4 for it, and then end up not liking it at all.

TLDR: Are the other Ass creed games any good? or the same? I feel like I'm missing out on something here. I've only played 1 and 4
>>
>>322257043
I play(pirate) them for the scenery porn, that's about all they have going for them.
>>
>>322256838
What do you expect on a board with the majority children? they haven't experienced good so they're fine with forgettable chore simulators
>>
>>322255851
It's a nice game and I'd say it's worth a buy but it does have some problems. A bit simplified.
> combo customization is largely pointless
> story doesn't involve characters much, the ones that appear mostly get dropped very quickly
> textures and graphics are lackluster, some areas more than others.
There were other minor things too but I wont go into detail.
The enemies were actually fine as were the bosses in general. It's far from a shit game, it's fine but has some problems that weigh it down a bit.

I was kinda fascinated by the concept of the bastille.
>>
>>322257043
by all accounts you played the best ones
>>
>>322255851
Story was good up until the end. The final boss was such a stupid fucking twist.

The atmosphere was excellent.

Some things about the world didn't make much sense, like how the fuck are some of the special attacks supposed to work, lorewise.

The memory altering sections were interested, but the game needed more of them.

It was a solid 6/10 for me.
>>
Is it worth a pirate for the ass and plot?
>>
>>322255851
It's not really hated, it's just a bit bland and mediocre. The game looks fantastic, don't get me wrong. The art direction and graphics are both great but the fighting is tedious and repetitive despite the combo customisation. Changing what effects your attacks have is neat but ultimately they all play the same. Tap-tap-tap-tap, move onto the next guy, tap-tap-tap-tap etc. Also I remember the game being advertised as having the memory remixing being a major part of the game and yet you only do it 3 or 4 times in the whole game. The puzzles were easy and the path to follow was linear with little room for exploration. This game was a classic case of all style no substance which is a shame because I can tell they tried to break the formula and be unique but it didn't really work.

So yeah, the game isn't hated it's just so middle of the road that no one really cares about it. Best thing about the game was Nilin's booty to be honest.
>>
>>322255851
>Its pretty fucking awesome.
whoa easy there
not even close
graphics were nice, art direction was really good, combat was okay, story and characters ranged from mediocre to shit
that's not "pretty fucking awesome"

I'm thinking of picking up the two trilogies and giving them another shot, I can always return em if I don't like em.

Is there a difference between PS3 Vs 360 versions? I kinbd of want to get the Ps3 versions because I may have plans to get a PS4 in the future, but no plans whatsoever for an Xbone.

BUT. My PS3 has like 40+ games for it and my 360 has like 5. So.. wondering if I should try balancing between.

I tried the game on my PS3 since I got it for "free" with PS+. I couldn't play it more than 30 minutes because how bad the performance and how bad it looked.

Not him, but every setting in games seems to always have its perks. You could say the same about Steampunk, sure its overdone but some games find interesting ways to utilize the asthetic, same as Cyberpunk or Raypunk/Dieselpunk ones.

You can't expect pure originality anymore, but you can be creative with the setting.

Not really. Usually when devs call a setting "somethingpunk" it means is shit.

Obviously there are some exceptions, like Arcanum.

I just tried playing it the other day after getting it in that bundle a while back. I gave it about an hour and a half to pull me in but it wasn't doing it.

I enjoyed the aesthetic and the memory altering but I couldn't keep going through the gameplay. The combat was really clunky and dull and the platforming was boring. I dunno if it was just me but the camera seemed to be way too close to the character and annoying to control. I would have liked to see where it was going but I wasn't going to suffer through another six hours when I could just play another one of the games in my backlog.

The gameplay is incredibly boring and provides no challenge.

I agree that the world and atmosphere are great, but without the solid gameplay to back it up, the game is, frankly just not very memorable.

I don't think anyone really hates this game. It's really not worth hating. For me, it was an enormous let down because I love cyberpunk settings and it has a cute brown girl for a protagonist, but being let down is about the strongest emotion I think anyone has toward it.
