Dangan Ronpa games if you don't mind a lot of reading and very character driven narrative.
Shit load of Dungeon Crawlers to choose from. Most of them are great but some of them like DT2 and Moero Chronicle are pretty fanservice heavy.
Freedom Wars is a personal favorite of mine, story kinda falls flat near the end but the gameplay is legit fun.

Everything on that list is solid but you might want to get Natural Doctrine on PS4 if you can. The game wasan't optimized for the Vita all that well and looks considerably worse. If you want it on Vita for the portability though go for it, I've heard its a very hard game that rewards people who are skilled and careful.

Even then it suffers from having one of the worst UIs I've ever dealt with.

It's shit. Rather, the game mechanics themselves are good, but it's hugely lacking in content and gets stale extremely quickly. Abductors are all massive damage sponges too so the biggest danger you'll face is hitting the time limits for missions. Weapon crafting is also pure RNG on a real timer which is fucking horrid.
You're missing all of the Atelier games. Get all of them. Don't bother with Ar noSurge because they butchered the localisation.

The story and especially the way it was told... and that voice acting... it made the best story ever told out of all the games in 2014. It's a real shame nobody besides vita owners were able to experience this grand story.

Also I want to add that while there are periods in which you can hang out with friends like Persona 3/4, those are pretty rare and I've only had like two free days where I can do that along with the other tasks I'm given, it's actually pretty gameplay heavy with regularly going on field study trips to different locations and exploring the surrounding areas to those towns.

I kind of agree with this. You can really see the seam where they've lumped in new content.
In general the core game is too padded. Repetition is key to the postgame grind, but shouldn't make up so much of the story. I was particularly irritated when the final boss arena had no skill recharge points. Game basically told me to fuck off and level up because hitting him with everything in my arsenal left him with maybe 5-10% more health.

I'm trying to finish up Freedom Wars but I'm getting walled by the giant octopus-looking motherfucker that showed up after I bodied Abel and Red Rage. Or rather, his fucking chains were causing trouble for me. I'm annoyed by te range those damn things have, and getting crossed up by them when they charge around is bullshit. Sad part is that he was down to his last 30% of health when the rest of his chains went berserk.

Demon Gaze is an odd one. I loved how open it is at the start. You can access multiple dungeons at once (visit what would normally be the third during the first) and it has a great system for randomised loot drops which means probably everyone palying it settled on different gear loadouts.
But when you settle further into the meat of the gameplay everything gets samey. Before long you'll identify the core useful skills and at that point you just spam them. As in, there's a zero cost defence buff and the game is balanced on the assumption that you literally have one party member doing nothing but cast that. At that point it gets intolerably dull.

Long post because i feel like ranting. Just finished Gravity Rush. I really wanted to like this game, I like Kat as a protag, her personality and her design, but it seems like for every intereting thing the game does, there is another that ruins it.
Shifting gravity is an interesting and fun mechanic, but the motion and camera controls are too imprecise for it, sliding is the most painful one, tilt will turn her, but at the same time change the camera, and since the camera is really near her even during fast slides, doing a hard turn can lead to bumping into shit. Enemies have cool designs, and require different strategies to defeat, but in its essence, combat is one move over and over and three special attacks, with the dodge being a touch command. The town's architecture and the scenery are beautiful, but it's empty, with sidequest being just challenges.
And finally the plot, i understand leaving some things open, for either a sequel or just the sense of wonder, but there has to be some closure, something. But the game gives you nothing. It was a shock when i beat the last boss and the credits roll up, with nothing inbetween. And then they eat ice cream.
It just upsets me so much because this game had a lot of potential, it could have been a great adventure. I hope the sequel fixes things. I heard it was originally a Ps3 game that was then shifted to Vita, to showcase what it could do, it would explain a lit of things.
