I'm not really sure what to say that doesn't immediately spoil some aspect of the story, but in general I just really liked the characters and how great of a job the game does at foreshadowing upcoming events or hiding away just barely enough information that you might figure out big plot points before they reveal them.
I had like 600 lines of notes written down in a text document and some of the endings still hit me like giant brick walls, although they ended up making perfect sense for the most part.
Anyhow, I think it's still on sale if you're interested in it, I certainly wholeheartedly recommend it.

If you have a circle pad pro or a N3DS i'd say go for it. Lock on isn't too bad but you'd be better off having a second stick for controlling the camera.
It's a great game though, just somewhat grindy. The grind is enjoyable since the monsters are challenging though. It's more fun if you have people to play with though, but most people are probably in the super late game areas at this point.
