The only way to live up to the hype and bring something new is by creating a compelling VR game.
Thankfully we're finally reaching the point where people just don't give a shit really. Finally reaching the point people have learned to not pay any attention to anything relating to HL3.
Not sure how many times people had to get burned before they realized to not pay attention to any HL3 "leak", but thankfully it's finally here. Just ignore it all until there's actually an official announcement, which will most likely never happen. Plus, HL3 would just be a disappointment if it ever did get made, so there's nothing to be excited or hopeful for.
