This is the upcoming games released by or published by SEGA specifically. It's generally their big projects. However, this doesn't include games entirely released by or Published by Atlus, and I wouldn't doubt that CA will get some autonomy this year as well. It also doesn't include the coming announcements surrounding the Sonic 25th anniversary, and E3. SEGA always uses E3 to announce games coming in the same year.
I'm sure capcom fans can provide a similar explanation.

Sega has a new arcade machine they are going to reveal at Jaepo this February.
It's already confirmed by Sega staff that it's a successor to the RingEdge.
Jaepo(formerly known as AOU) is where every Virtua Fighter got revealed.
It's also the game they used as a demo for Model 3, Naomi 2 and Lindbergh.Coincidentally, a recent update states that VF.net services are terminated on February.

The new CEO. His father was Hajime Satomi, the founder of Sammy. He bought SEGA mostly because his son Haruki was a SEGAfag who didn't want the brand to be ripped apart by creditors, and while he has admittedly mismanaged it, he spent the past 6 or so years rebuilding it from the ground up in order to give it to his son to manage.
Haruki's first announcement when he got put in charge was that "SEGA has betrayed fans trust and wants to be a brand again" thing. That's his fucking guiding philosophy.

The writing has been on the wall since at least 2012. The last few pieces were put into place at the beginning of the year, and then Haruki took the reigns this past summer. The people who managed Boom and Colonial marines were the last shitty part of SEGA, and they got fired in that giant lay-off.
People were resistant in 2014 and 2015 because Boom came out, even though the trail of maneuvers leads back to 2008, but 2016 will be the year where it's undenyable. (Or at least 2017. There's gonna be a lot of shitposting this year. Vanquish PC port is going to be the moment when /v/ reconsiders their opinions, and there's 0 chance that's not happening this year)
