Is the individual texture quality in Crysis bad?
While Crysis did provide a lot of nice graphical effect, I feel like the actual textures are sub par.
They are quite bad at times, especially rocks. There are texture mods out there though.
They're not too bad considering its like nine years old though.

low settings=low quality, who would have though

Rocks sometimes look like that at high texture quality too.

They do look like that on max settings. Go play it again. It still looks really good overall but the rock textures are just really bad.

Only the rock textures were bad

Cut the game a little slack, its almost 8 years old now
It's a 9 year old game what do you expect?
>>322162445
That's because video cards were lucky to have 512MB of ram back then. At least it had parallax occlusion mapping which 99% of games still don't have.

>almost
It was 8 years old 2 months ago

mfw my card still has 1000mb

And simulated foliage.
>>322162445
No not really.

This is with max settings no mods. I don't have anything closer but it clearly has more detail than OPs image.

Unbelievably ahead of its time

textures and models only go so far to make a game look good.
The two most important factors in making a game look beautiful is lighting and art direction
An example of lighting would be STALKER, which still to this day can look absolutely gorgeous and for art direction would LoZ: WIndwaker, who's art direction will make the game pretty much stand the test of time graphics wise
