6700k or 5820k?
Which will last longer

Have fun upgrading while I will use the same CPU for a decade
>willingly killing your games with hyperthreading
that's almost like saying you need dual server CPUs for gaming
>>322162239
5820k
dat 4.7ghz hexacore

>not saving up some more bucks and having godlike cpu
Yeah nah fuck you.
>>322162447
Hyperthreading gives next to no improvement when it comes to games. Sometimes it's even a negative.
I've got a 4690K.
Still a peasant?
>>322163313
>Sometimes it's even a negative.
To clarify, this isn't because of hyperthreading, it's because of lower per core performance.

yes
>>322162239
Just go AMD. Literally the best decision you can do. Don't fall for the shills posting.
>>322163993
well at least i'm not getting fucked by big daddy nvidia.
amd releases a lot of it's tools as open-source, while nvidia bribes developers to use their proprietary bullshit gameworks software.
>still on 2500k
>>322164285
>amd releases a lot of it's tools as open-source
And it sure has done lots of good, seeing as AMD gets fucked where the performance counts the majority of the time.

yeah, how i said nvidia has to bribe developers to use their gameworks bullshit, which sucks on amd gpus. compared at the same price-level, amd's gpus outperforme nvidia's most of the time.
>>322162447
There's no need for an i7 unless you're doing heavy duty tasks. Your GPU will usually be the bottleneck for whatever game you're playing. My old i7 930 still worked fine for every game I played until I got a 6700k this fall for Runescape goldfarming, which IS something you'd buy an i7 for.
5820k
If Intel and AMD's latest offerings are any indication, that will future-proof you for a loooong time.
>>322164772
Yeah that's totally a reason to buy an i7
>>322162239

how's your overpriced and underperforming rig OP?

Better than overprice and underperforming for poorfags

GTA 5.
Both components will likely have 10+ year lifespans. Physical hardware failure is pretty rare with CPU's, so as long as you don't overvolt it, overheat it or drop it, you'll be fine with either.
>>322163912
>No optical disk
Why? I've never understood why people (or certain companies) stopped using these. I get that digital distribution is faster and easier in most cases, but some very old games and software are hard as hell if not impossible to find except on disk.
i7 6700k
anyone looking to get cheap performance should look into non-k skylake processors, as they can now be overclocked via increasing the base clock. i3 performs like i5 and so on. it's really kind of cool.

You decide OP.
