Samus' moves actually have hitboxes on their animations.
Ironically enough, Smash 4 Marth actually does have deadzones on some of his moves. His jab 1, up tilt and 4th hit dancing blade up can completely whiff if they're too close. His uair is also missing active frames, so almost the entire portion where he swings the blade down doesn't have a hitbox.

I like it and even play it competitively and casually, I even just came from a weeklie but it is flawed. Other fighting games are arguably better but it really comes down to personal preference. Even then I don't understand why people think melee players are assholes to anyone who doesn't play the way they do, everyone at my weeklie either says smash 4 is ok or they enjoy playing it casually. Also if you're going to make a bait thread at least put effort.
