How does /v/ feel about Catherine?
Dear lord I loved the game. The slightly surrealist atmosphere, the oddball characters, the ordinary man in an extraordinary situation plot. It all boiled down to an enthralling game experience.
Does anyone know more titles like this? Artsy weebshit?
You should buy that gamebuy a gun and kill yourselfI heard it's similar in mechanics
Easily one of the best games of the last gen. Loved it.
It's also the most entertaining game to watch at EVO.

Really liked the story. K is infinitely better than C, anyone who disagrees is blind and retarded.I spent the entire game apologizing to K and trying to tell C to fuck off, answering all the questions honestly, and I got the ending where Vincent proposes to C, she rejects him, and he gets hit by a bus.
>my fucking face when
>>322073115
C is best grill. K is a cunt.
>>322073294
E is best
Neutral ending best ending.

Erica was the best girl
>inb4 trap
However, Katherine was best for Vincent to grow, while Catherine was best for him to remain unchanged.
I liked the puzzles. Fun times. Good game.
I hold the very unique distinction of Catherine being my first Atlus game. I bought the game on a whim, and it's still the best game I ever picked up knowing nothing about. I wish it was longer, and I wish they worked on a sequel. Different characters, but with the same formula.
This game led me to Persona 4, which led me to Persona 3, which led me to Nocturne, which led me to Strange Journey. Not surprisingly, I've pretty much went out and have bought a good chunk of SMT games.C>K because Laura Bailey is the best
Katherine is for anal
Got it for myself for x-mas, have yet to play it, what am I in for?
>>322074225
A game that somehow broke through my cynicism and exceeded my expectations.
>>322074225
Fun.
>>322074225
I got it for Xmas too anon, beat it a few days ago and it was enjoyable. Some boss puzzles rekt my shit but I liked it, starting my second play through for another ending this weekend. Took about 9 hours total the first time on normal.
My favorite game last gen. One of my favorite Atlus games. Probably my favorite story in any game.
Truly this was my favourite game from the previous gen.
>>322073327
I love the game, but why was it at evo?
>>322075032
A lot of the FGC apparently like playing it competitively, so Atlus held a side tournament for it at their booth.
>>322073354
Which ending to the game you get is not dependent on what you do throughout the game, it's dependent entirely onhow you answer the last set of questions, the ones for stage 9. Nothing else factors into it.Answering honestly for you instead of for how you wanted Vincent to honestly reply fucked you.
>>322075032
It's actually got the framework for a really good competitive game. They don't take it too seriously because it's not all that fleshed out, but it's still a lot of fun to watch.

If I force myself to say what the best game of the 7th generation was, Catherine is the firs thing to come to mind.
Seriously. One of the best most unique games ever made of all time. No exaggeration.
As someone who regulars 4 different vidya subs, I can say that it was a solid 7 out of 10 despite the art style.
I still lay awake at night with it in my head.
Those puzzles. They haunt me every night. Trying to climb those fucking blocks and pushing them.
Story was comfy as fuck though.
>>322075747
As someone who moderates the 4 subs you go on, I know for a fact it's a 10/10. If you talk shit to me, I'll ban you.
>>322073115
Catherine is probably one of the manliest games ever created

Come on guys, recommend games that give the same feel. Obviously we all want the experience.

Comfy games? Puzzle games? Games with neato stories? Games that get introduced by white women with afros? What are you looking for here?
>>322076559
the closest i can get you is campfires in stalker, nothing else really compares
>>322076768
Artsy weebshit with surreal stories/characters.
>>322075862
After playing it a bunch I started mentally moving blocks whenever I would see them in other games without even noticing
>>322076905
I'd add graphic adventure games to that list
>>322076971
Just get all of atlus's games, except the tactics ogre games. Those are great games, but they're not looking for. You should emulate ogre battle 64 regardless.

Stupidly good soundtrack.
>>322073115
it's alright. the puzzles are very difficult, but the pacing is grueling, the time between new mechanics being introduced is too long, and will result with you being worn out. the game also doesn't teach you key techniques that are absolutely necessary towards the end of the game.
the story and characters are the weakest point. it's supposed to be all about the struggle to grow up, but really, no matter what you do, despite climbing up all these puzzles, the main character will remain a whiny bitch just like he was in the first place.
the game is also pretty pretentious, as it straight up says "oh the puzzle climbing is an allegory for growing up," which actually made me laugh for how contrived it was. the puzzle climbing is more like an allegory for making sense of this contrived stupid ass story.
but despite it's flaws and stuck-up attitude, the game still has some creativity, and challenge to keep you entertained. i'd say it's worth a play if you like atlus games or puzzle games.
>>322073836
Are you fucking me?
Catherine was my entry point into the series, then p4, then p3, then nocturne.
I have SJ but haven't got around to playing it.
If you haven't already play smtiv it's the shit.catherine best girlkatherine a shit
>>322077560
>the game also doesn't teach you key techniques that are absolutely necessary towards the end of the game.
Looks like someone didn't learn TECHNIQUES from the other lost lambs.
>>322077560
>the story and characters are the weakest point. it's supposed to be all about the struggle to grow up, but really, no matter what you do, despite climbing up all these puzzles, the main character will remain a whiny bitch just like he was in the first place.
Not true, he really does some growing up in the true neutral ending.
>>322077702
I agree. I'm pretty sure that every technique you need in a stage is given to you before the stage by regal hair sheep and reporter sheep, with the exception of boss stages that use all of that stages techniques.
>>322076559
this
I read in the spanish Wikipedia that is in part an horror game. Is it true?.
>>322079323
Some horror undertones, but it's more just about the suspense.
>>322079323
This guy is on the money >>322079545
It's definitely not a proper horror game so I wouldn't go in expecting that
>>322073354
beta boi who can't even dominate a succubus detected. enjoy your future gf (lmao, who am i kidding) getting blacked in front of you.
Neutral good ending is best. Prove me wrong.
>>322081146
nobody will fight you on the moon being best girl
>tfw the TRUE best ending (Katherine with Catherine's dominatrix outfit and succubus tendencies) doesn't even exist
why even play this game
>>322077660
Well shit. Nice to know I ain't alone. I did play SMTIV and I'm patiently awaiting Final.
But real talk? SMT V WHEN?
I expected a shitty waifu simulator and I got an awesome puzzle game.
>>322073115
If not for the Trauma Center series it'd be my favorite Atlus game.
I loved it, best ps3 game here.
The art is the best, i wish we get some new Golden playhouse game for PS4.
Got all endings but I could never beat it on hard.
