Metro isn't underrated though. Not only was it pretty popular on /v/ when it first released, but the fans of the game cared enough that we actually had a lot of backlash and whining threads when it was revealed that Last Light was going to make Ranger Mode pre-order DC.

Not underrated, in fact I reckon anyone who knows it enough to try it loved/liked it
This entire genre of JA2 clones is pretty good, but they're few and far between and barely any of them are properly working in English, and even fewer properly working at all
I was hoping the new XCOM would revive interest in them but that never came around

Din's Curse and its expansion. Think "Torchlight", but each of the monsters belong to factions that can fight each other, rebel against their leaders, work together, and travel to the surface to decimate the town.
All while you're somewhere else, probably three or four dungeon levels below. Gotta kill that Orc Warlord fast or else he'll amass an army and open the gates of hell in the center of town.
Wish it had somewhat better atmosphere but its modable and I'm working on that.
This game needs more love.
I've only heard about from another anon before it even became avalible on steam.

Metro is mentioned all the time, especially now.
Anytime someone talks about Fallout (Which is very common as there's usually a thread about it on every page) someone inevitably mentions STALKER or Metro did post nuclear wasteland better.
