2deep4u game that only requires you to play it like 3 times. Stats barely matter, Fighting barely matters, No bonus dungeons/bosses that test your skills/strategy, etc.However, had it been longer, reworked the combat system to show that sparing all your enemies wont always yield good results, been more of an text adventure/roguelike, and dialed back on the "lolsorandom" it would've been better imo.

Wow, incredibly spot on.
Hotland is tedious to go through each time and hinders a majority of the game's replay value.
The story is a jumbled mess, and a lot of the character motivations are vague, or petty.
Toby tried way too hard to push the "you don't have to kill anyone" feature, even if you kill a minor character that no one would realistically give a fuck about. Because if you so kill one character, the game turns against you like you're the villain, even if it's self-defense.
The true final boss is horribly cliché and piss easy.
People who say the character are the most relatable ones they've seen in a game clearly have not played a lot of games, because I felt nothing for killing them on genocide. If anything, murdering Sans is very satisfying.I like the game, but I really want it to die soon and can easily understand people who legitimately dislike it.

Alphys and her entire arc devolve the story into her own selfish parade of shipping, low self worth, and need for attention. If she was replaced with a better story arc, then Untertale would be a much better game.

My feelings for Undertale are mixed. I absolutely hate the fanbase it's spawned and I honestly don't believe that it's worthy of all this praise. Undertale was okay, like you said OP. It had some unique gameplay elements that were certainly different, and it's sound track did a pretty great job of hyping up fights. That being said, it just wasn't very fun to play and I certainly wouldn't play through it again nor buy another game like it. The random encounters were very boring and didn't provide almost any challenge. The boss fights were okay, but I didn't enjoy them too much. The harder ones were better, even if a little artificially difficult.
Honestly, I don't even think half the fans played the game, rather watched a playthrough online. Somehow the game is so incredibly boring to play, yet actually rather interesting to watch.Source: My hatred for the game slowly grew until I beat it, yet I still enjoyed watching Dunky play it.
