Learn to use the jumps wisely and learn to curve the ball by flipping your car. Don't always run after the ball like toddlers playing soccer, sometimes it's better to let the others fight it out while you stay back and wait for that perfect shot to line up

If you're goalie a well timed double jump will get you to the top of the net and block high shots. Also my rule is don't go after the ball as goalie unless you're going to get to the ball before the other team. On offense you need to get good at setting people up for shots at the goal. I like hitting it down the side and popping it up over the goal.

Goaliefags are the worst in 2v2. Stupid teammate does jackshit to help me score a goal
Don't try to attack the ball 24/7. Sit back and try to cut off/apply pressure spots where the opponent wants to go. When you have a clear chance at getting the ball, go for it, but if you have a teammate behind you to play defense it's not a bad idea to challenge the opponent for the ball too sometimes. You'll learn the game is very situational. Also, don't be afraid to practice things like aerials in unranked, who gives a shit if your team gets mad at you for missing, you'll get better than them earlier if you fail at practicing the hard stuff more frequently. Lastly, be mindful of picking up boost. If there's a capsule near you go for it, or if you're low and you opponent is pushing the ball to your side grab a lot of the small pads.

It becomes a much more regular thing as you start playing with good players,but it does take away some of the magic from the game away when you used to see aerials as some impossible, crazy technique. I will say the game is more fun when you're good compared to when you're a scrub though.
