Well that's bullshit, the tutorial is the start where you have the crusader and highwayman, and what he's saying doesn't make sense, if players figure out how to completely ignore a system consistently, then yeah, you're going to buff that system to be more effective, or nerf taht system if it gets in the way of newer, more interesting designs.

If you build parties properly to handle all the threats of the game (damage, stress, stun, bleed, blight, crits, shuffle) then you only run into issues in the rarest of circumstances

I wont touch the game until release. I played the game right after it come out on early access and leveled up all character to 6 then It got deleted by a new patch.

But the RNG isn't even a problem.
The only problem is how simplified the quirks and afflictions are.
You have two sets of 7 Quirks that repeatedly cycle with each run with no particular rhyme or reason.
They only give buffs or debuffs.
Diseases are the only thing that's not quite as binary as that.
They don't impact party interaction in the slightest either.
It's decent for the style of the game but it's far removed from the initial pitch.

The Quirks are onesided buffs and debuffs as opposed to something which could hypothetically be exploited.
Party members don't have unique interactions with other specific party members, so far the only interaction is that religious party members won't party with an abomination.
Quirks happen randomly with few exceptions (Iron maiden etc).
It all just compounds to the adventurers being very generic and swappable, class aside.
One Leper is as good as the next.
It works for the current incarnation where you do toss expendables into the meatgrinder but it's quite mediocre.
