What unpopular/obscure indie games have you guys been playing lately? No popular indies like Braid, Cave Story, and Undertale allowed.
Undertale.

What's that about?
>removing the artist's name
>converting it to a jpg
>making it look ugly with artifacts
Fuck reddit.
The Long Dark
>>321982258
How do you have time to play it, when spending so much time shitting up threads on /v/?
Has anyone even heard of Vampire of the Sands?
I played Intrusion 2 thanks to some anon's recommendation. It's got rad as fuck boss battles and a pilotable mech with a grappling hook in one arm and a sword in the other. Pretty fucking cool.
Kenshi was fun for a while
>>321982346
It's a ARPG with a looting system and camera like diablo but a combat system like, say, Darksiders. without combos though, shame.

>>321982462
A bit more than that, I know the dev himself. He's a faggy chinaman with too much time on his hands.
Planet Diver is pretty fun
Desktop Dungeons
>>321982202
Suguri
>>321982595
Not really my cup of tea, but it seems neat enough.
>>321982462

>>321982202
Indie games are all derivative garbage.
Is Rimworld unpopular?
La-mulana, the best eastern indie game of all time.
And also Legend of Grimrock 2
>>321982501
10/10 game
Distance
>>321982501
>>321982765
As much as I love ZHP, I was looking for games that were way more obscure than that.. NIS is way more popular than what I was asking for.
>>321982765
9/11, it's okay.
>>321982743
>the best eastern indie game of all time
No need to be redundant. You could have left out the "eastern".
>>321982743
>la mulana
>unpopular
>obscure
Do you even read the thread?
>>321982873
I've seen it mentioned on /v/ like twice in about eight years.
NIS is quite popular here, sure, but this game is rarely talked about, if ever.
>>321982956
Because really, what's to talk about with it? There's really not much of anything to discuss about it other than shadowgrams and item synthesis, both of which have detailed guides now.
>>321982930
>La-mulana
>popular
It only has 245k sales. Compared to cave story and undertale, that's about a million behind, and even then a lot of people don't know about CS and UT.
>>321983026
Following your logic, we might not talk about video games at all, because they were discussed at some other place at some point in the past.
>>321983115
La Mulana existed well before the steam release, anon
>>321983115
Compared to most indies - very popular. Not like a new cultural phenomenon, like Minecraft, or exceptionally successful, like Rocket League, but still very much acknowledged.
>>321983120
Nah I didn't mean it like that, I just don't feel like it really has anything worth discussing. Like really, what would you want to talk about? The story? The basic as fuck gameplay? The only thing worth talking about is how to build your characters and posting the OST all day. Also I'm not saying that you should never talk about ZHP, I'm simply stating that it's no wonder that no one talks about it. I'm personally down for talking about it. Ranged builds are for faggots.

Pathologic

I played mibibli's quest and it was fun.
Also Odallus: The Dark Call.
Is Iji considered popular for an indie game?
>>321983585
If you're talking about the cover art, I'm afraid there's no shota on it...

>>321982202
Dungeon of the Endless is pretty fun.
Probably my favorite comfy game with great soundtrack
It's always so calming, unless you play SMB styled custom levels
Knytt Underground certainly lost most of the charm of Stories and Within a Deep Forest

>>321984031
cant beat it as in its hard or is it never-ending?because it has an optimal ending now
>>321983985
The writing nearly ruined Knytt Underground for me. Nifflas needs to stick with the atmospheric minimalism and ditch the highschool freshman-tier writing.
That WiiU space game looks cool, though.
Playing Endless Legend with friends and family, it's pretty slow paced but most of them are still learning.
>>321984285

FUCK YOU DEVS, I'M LOSING FUCKING NOTHING FROM PIRATING YOUR GAME

La Mulana was originally a Wii game.
And before that you had a previous game. The current La Mulana is a remake of it.
>>321982667high-five

This game is fun as hell. It makes managing resources fun and gives you a big payoff if you do shit correctly.

creeper world 3
Dominions is fairly obscure, but at least it's alive enough to have a multiplayer community. It wouldn't be worth playing for nearly as long without it.
Gay as fuck tower defenses.

BRIGADORIt's very pretty, but otherwise gets stale fast

But you can, 2 endings too. Sit on the throne or the idpd chair.
>>321985064
Neat
>>321985206
There are interesting challenges in the game.
I'm playing inFAMOUS 2 it's a pretty niche game from indie developer Sucker Punch.
>>321985291
It's an ugly shitty top-down shooter with procedural generation.
A standard "indie" game, in other words.
Here's a small list :
The Momodora series
Irisu syndrome
Samurai sacrament
Arm Joe
Shmupfest
>>321983764
Game is such an adventure.
Shit gets really fucking stupid later on though.
>>321985613
>he thinks merely naming the genre is a valid criticism
wow just wow
NaissanceE
>>321985952
It does when it shows just how bland it exactly is.
You see, "indie" devs love to make up genre names to pretend their game is more than it really is -- and Teleglitch developers did it too, before I pointed it out to them -- so setting the record straight on this aspect is proper criticism (or part of the whole critic at any rate).
So Teleglitch is nothing but a top-down shooter, one which does nothing special or particularly well, on top of being ugly to the eye and ear.
Mostly Fortresscraft Evolved - it's like Minecraft Tekkit/FTB but made in Unity.
Every now and then I play a round Big Pharma. It's a bit like an easy puzzle game with economy sim elements.
I think ToME4 had an update and I should check that out.
>>321986635
For some reasons it remind me of star wars, is this shit good ?
>>321982202
Not really obscure, although it was always a bit niche and isn't really talked about much anymore-
Stepmania.
>mfw DDR2013 tracks were actually really gud and that I needed to git gud again to AA a few of them.

Why does tedious, slow paced and intentionally vague progression = GOAT for most of /v/?
>>321989309
>those digital screams
For anyone who haven't played, I recommend this.
>>321982202
Crackle cradle
>>321989601
>Those formation leaders meowing after you get rid of them.
>those screams when you set a forest on fire
>those fucking futurwinians popping up.
>rage mode for everyone
I wish there was another game like darwinia or multiwinia, just create a world and add some inhabitants and then after playing for a while, all those little people suddenly starts killing each other.
>>321989660
How do I stop caring about my rank?
God fucking damn, I always feel like a turd seeing that C after clearing a level.
>>321987124
Matters on what you like
It's a first person platform puzzler that focuses on exploration and really fucking solid environments.
I love it to death and it's only five dollars on steam right now, but it's also a finished small single player game so pirateing should be pretty easy.
Gemcraft: Chasing Shadows, pretty cheap on Steam.
I dunno, shit's fun.
>>321987124
It's Blame! the game, minus all the shit that makes Blame! interesting
>>321983985
>>321984313
I know Nifflas personally, and this was a complaint of mine when asked to play test Knytt Underground.
It really lacked much of the old games atmosphere, and the lack of proper writing (and too little interaction with people beside tour companions), made it a bit tedious.
I loved Knytt Stories, but I have never completed Underground.
>>321989490
because only dumb people need things spelled out for them. If you're into something and not stupid then eventually you learn to appreciate subtlety in that thing above all else
people who are really into paintings, music, movies, books all come to love subtlety above all else. So you either aren't that into video games or are kinda slow.
Is Crypt of the Necrodancer obscure enough?
I always wanted some fusion of action rhythm and dungeon crawlers to play, and this was a really satisfying take on the concept.
>>321991061
you shouldn't stop caring about your rank , the point is to get A rank boi ;)
>>321998485
But if I don't stop caring I'll never beat the game
