Anon here. Been using Fraps for about 4 years now and haven't really noticed issues with it up until about a few weeks ago. Constant screen tearing and large file sizes have made it harder to use and I want to see what else is out there. anyways post our best capture program and why, and lets get a discussion going. Will re-post to another board if needed.
TLDR: Newfag wants to know what best capture software is and wants to know where to get (sorry for no greentext).
OBS

I've owned OBS for some time and haven't tried the recording function, just a bit of streaming.

Isn't shadowplay limited to games that run off of the geforce experience application?
>>321956748
Nope, it'll record anything on your screen.

Nah, I use it on Dolphin and random other Shit without using desktop mode

Thanks for the suggestions then. I'll check them out and if thread isn't kill, come back with overlying results
There is literally no reason to not use OBS, x264 encoder, CPU based, free, works for almost any major capture card / software input.

I like having fraps in game to let me know I'm recording or whatever.
I have OBS, but do I need to alt-tab to press "start recording"? or are there hotkeys and shit.

There are global hotkeys for recording, streaming, saving buffers, muting your mic / sound etc.

I use bandicam. It doesn't fuck up in the same manner fraps does. I haven't looked into other options but bandicam does exactly what I want it to do.
