Anyone working on a game?
>tfw making a game on Source 1
>don't wanna use modern engines cause 'muh brushes'
>>321906725
gonna use rpg maker to make a game with my own style and humor
Ye
You can punch your ex-wife in it.
>>321908642
looks fun. make sure you got a ton of content if you wanna make profit
Not a game. But iv'e been making a Hard Time Postal 2 Mod
>>321909829
Lmao what
Postal mod based on based M. Dickie's work of art known as Hard Time?
You recreated the cafeteria really well.
What spurred this madness?
>>321906725
>Unity
What's a good engine?
>>321906725
sure, already been played 1.5 million times, although in the timespan of a few months to be fair. still have about 1k daily unique users. still working on "1.0" version (it was a preview/alpha so far). people really liked it. like, "regularly getting mails that tell you it's the best game in that particular genre they ever played by far" liked it. felt really good about it but the longer we go on developing the final version, the more I'm afraid we can't live up to peoples expectations or that we're somehow going to make the game worse.
I was but then I stopped
>>321906725
I couldn't sleep saturday, so I wrote an RPG engine from the ground up, imitating "cosmic wars psychic soldier", since that game has no scrolling and does simple frame refresh. Today, the world map is done, the characters can walk around, the battle system is coded, along with 4 heroes with STR, DEX, VIT, AGI, ARMOR, lvl, hp, hpmax, mp, mapMax, and xp already updatable.
Needs: monsters, itens, "rest" routine, "search" routine, magic, a working textbox, and ahn....
a story to go along.
>>321910038
I don't really know. I just started doing it.
Here is a picture of the cell block, it still needs some work.
how hard would it be to make a simple 2d rhythm game?
>>321906725
I was putting together a simple megaman-like game idea I had for a while to try out clickteam fusion
Then I stopped and said fuck it, if I'm gonna be doing shitty mspaint gameboy graphics, might as well go for the real thing.
So now it's on hold while I learn a bit more about assembly programming.
I want to. I've started watching the Unreal Engine training videos.
>>321909829
>>321910770
>someone somewhere is still making postal mods
Bless you anon
>>321906725
Yep. :) Making an RPG.
I'm in release testing right now for some beta testers. Hope to release it Jan 1st to them.
>>321909829
Where can I get the engine?
>>321910429
Blender engine.
if i could get myself to stop being a worthless pile of unproductive garbage, I could do a vidya
I don't know which of the main engines I should go with, and I don't know what sort of game would be good for a first time solo project
all my vidya attempts are gone to shit for the time being so i started making a tabletop rpg with pic related as one of the races
as for vidyer i was gonna make a simple pixel art platform shooter where you controlled a group of 4 characters with different weapons and abilities, i was making the graphics and a friend was coding it, but my inability to make graphics on time pissed her off and she left so i don't think that's going anywherei think i have a mockup for it though
>>321911545
shit it's even worse than i remember
>>321911448
You can download Postal 2's version of UnrealEd on the Tools section on steam.
>>321911545
>>321911829
i was also making a shadowrun hong kong UGC with a shitload of franken portraits but i lost interest very quickly
>>321911545
I like the design, anon
>>321911901
Thanks
I'm finally working on game after getting some programming knowledge and working on irrelevant software.
Is it my shitty coding, or does Unity really doesn't like precise rotation?
It seems that the value's are so imprecise, it's impossible to work with a single float.
>>321912192
>tfw rotations
>tfw quaternions
Fucking Gimbal Lock, why can't I just use Euler angles...
>>321912667
You can though, .eulerAngles is a thing. But it's impossible to use them anyway, because Unity is a dick and skips values.
Yeah. I'm polishing things up.
You can test it out here.
http://fightanvidya.com/dump/ShitGame
I appreciate any feedback regarding controls or anything in general.
>>321906725
>want to make video game
>can't coding for shit
>can't draw at all
where do i start?
>>321913029
The coding part. You can steal assest for anything else.
>>321912801
But isn't directly messing with the eulerAngle values of a Quaternion ripe for causing all sorts of problems? Or did I get that wrong? I think that I've read in the manual that directly editing the quaternion x/y/z/w values causes problems. Is editing via .eulerAngles a safe bet?
>>321912863
you should make those rails faster
Just a simple little cookie clicker ripoff. Just to keep me occupied when I'm bored. Mostly working on the menus right now.
>>321913029
Construct 2. It's pretty annoying and limiting most of the time, but you can make a lot of fun simple stuff in it if you want. >>321912863 for example.
>>321913267
I'm not that expierenced with Unity, or code for that matter, but I can say I'm having a horrible time trying to stop a cube from rotating at a certain point. And I'm using euler angles.
yes and it's crap
>>321913274
The gif is outdated. Didn't have any updated stuff on my phone . Try the build. It's now faster than walking.
I want to make a game on id Tech 2 just for fun (or rather, """fun"""), but I don't know where to start, even though I've downloaded the source code.
>>321913029
>>321913281
Construct is pretty annoying but I like it. It's great for rapid prototyping.
I'm building this up to pitch it to a programmer friend. See if I can push out something more polished.
Way better to have a working example of what you want than to go full idea guy on a reluctant programmer.
>>321913451
I'm in the same boat. Currently I'm trying to figure out the differences of movement and rotation when having rigidbodies that use physics and that are kinematic. My rotations sometimes go full retard, so I guess I need to spend more time learning how to use quaternions and Euler angles properly.
what is new year's resolution /v/?
eye think its a good year to start making videogame eyedeas
>>321906725
just RPGmaker shit where you play as animu girls commiting christian genocide.
>>321908642
don't to forget to make it whacky enough to spawn memes.
>>321912863
A few thoughts. Firstly. Maybe try down+left/right for slide, though I suppose that's more subjective.
Secondly. I might be doing something wrong but the wall jumping is a bit annoying. You might be doing things a lot differently compared to how I do events, but I found having a invisible collision block hovering slightly in front of the character, then as it touches a wall, it enables double jump to work fairly decently.
Also. Jumping into a wall feels pretty strange.
>>321914653
Forgot picture.
I want to make an FPS-RPG with heavy story elements (like Pathologic) with a bit of crafting and stuff.
I seriously have no idea how to start.
>>321914653
Thanks. I'll take a look at both.
Slide especially since it's pretty broken. I might have to redo it in general.
The wall jump has been getting a lot of complaints so I'll probably resources that too. I might go full Strider and just make it something you can climb.
>>321914909
how about setting the engine, then creating the characters,
>>321914909
Start by writing shit down, faggot. Try to sketch a little bit too, even if it's shitty.
If you write enough shit such that you have a complete design document, people with talent will come and work with you on it
>but someone will steal it!
No they won't, anyone with actual talent that can actually finish projects is already working on something else, random idiots MIGHT start and then give up.

I'm working on a spiritual successor/sequel to Hong Kong 97. It's called London 2017, and you can go support it on greenlight! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=587456423

Oh nice, you're working on a Ninja Gaiden clone too?
I have a collision box set up, but for the hanging. Press ] (or was it [?) to bring up some stats and 2 boxes meant for hang and jump thru detections.

Can anyone here into shader code?

Why the hell did it post twice
Been working hard making my engine from scratch. So far all the code, including shaders is mine while my friend has been making assets.
We started a couple months ago, here's what it looks like right now.

>>321915518
Not him, but this seems like a good idea.
I took the idea of this stuff for granted, but the way you said it really made me reconsider. Thanks
>>321915835
>>321916009
Well. I did but I abandoned it before I got anywhere. I was planning on making a Metal Gear Rising clone in the style of Ninja Gaiden, calledNinja Raiden. I got the basics down but I lost almost all my will to continue making it when I started doing the graphics. I'm just not a good artist.
Shame because I think it could have turned out pretty fun.
I kind of want to make an idle game.
>>321916461
A great way to start is to think about the creative bit of your gamethen use someone else's code
Working on a Monkey ball clone.
Just hit Greenlight with mixed results. I think my next pass through I'll focus on cleaning it up and making edges/surfaces sharper/have more contrast.
Working on some menus right now. The placeholder pause menu is basically done but before I go further I need to fix up the placeholder title screen because it's old as hell and made before I knew like anything.
>>321916797
I don't even know what they're supposed to be made in. Not Flash, I'd guess.
>>321916454
Sounds like it would have been fun dude. You should have stuck with it and then pitched it to some artist .
Any tips on how to reduce inheritance trees or something along those lines.
>>321917124
I'm not really on that level. I mostly just like to play around in Construct. I can't even code or anything.
>>321917064
Game Maker Studio perhaps?
>mfw going back to a project I had forgotten about for months
I'm like 75% done so I have to finish at this point, but it's getting harder to stay motivated. I just need to remind myself that it'll get done sooner if I keep working.

Go for it! Remember that it isn't enough to just have a theme- your game should have interesting mechanics that make it stand out!
Ambient/electronic musicbros?
>>321917410
Don't really want to pay a hundred bucks for something I'm not really committed to, so I think I'll go with >>321918292
>>321918405
I am, you working on a project?
I want to make a video game, but I don't know how to being coding and my lack of artistic talent would stop me from even making pixel trash.
>>321918523
You can always pirate anon. While you are learning it and stuff.
I didn't get nearly as much accomplished this year as I wanted since I was so busy but I'm still trying to get a demo ready to demonstrate what I have got done.

i haven't gotten past character rigging

Skeleton Boomerang is one of my favorites
Why are blender's default controls so shit
Repeating question from previous thread.
I am noob at 3d, is there any software that can model semi-complex shapes (for example, bent tube or bottle) and output just plain vertex coordinates?
>>321908642
Looks cool, I like the interactive attacks, reminds me if the Mario and Luigi games. Definitely a cool way to spice up turn based combat.
>>321910434
I'll bite. What game?
>>321921423
I appreciate it, friend. I'm really happy I've got people looking forward to this thing, it makes working on it feel a bit more fulfilling.
I decided to use my winter break to learn how2SFML. I had forgotten how fucking dense this shit gets if you want it to.
>mfw I'll have to put it on the backburner again once the spring semester starts back up
What engine should I use if I wanna make a fighting game?
>>321908642
Awesome. An Undertale clone
>>321917384
Looks good
Not exactly a game but I'm making a graphics engine that uses ray tracing.
Considering turning it into a game engine later on, right now its too inefficient to render more than a couple of shapes
>>321923643
>calling all indie RPG's Undertale clones
is this going to be the new meme
>>321908035
Are you going to move to source 2 whenever that is available?
I'm working on a game at the moment but isnt even close to playable. However, i have a finished game here
