The dialogue isn't as bad as people would have you believe. Just don't take it as a serious story.
Gameplay is just about like everything else. All items suck starting out though, so give it a few levels.

I can't stand them.
They're extremely repetitive and the gameplay feels numb.
They also have absolutely horrible gameplay mechanics like "kill a nearby enemy to not die" and absurdly pointless vehicles
They're fun in the way mmos are fun, it's a fairly easy grind to play with friends.
