I got the shit on sale with some of the expansions and a stuff pack or 2 as a gift for myself and my neice and sister-in-law for them to play on my account on their laptop.
I have a save file where I keep a sim alive with youth potions and he has one child, who has a child and that child has a child until they give birth to my original sims great grand daughter.
Then my original sim knocks up his great grand daughter and the cycle repeats. I like seeing the little family tree thing showing whats happening too. It shows my great grand daughter as both that and as her grand fathers half sibling i believe.
Also it lets me escape my sad reality just that bit longer.
2 is better, 3 and 1 aren't worth talking about
How does 4 compare to 2?

Origin gave Sims 2 + every expansion for free. It makes it pretty hassle free when I want to play. Except re downloading all the mods that don't have broken links.

Not sure if it counts, but in the Sims 3, I made a clown, and placed a custom plot of land out in the forest, made a tiny like 3x3 shack covered under trees. The shack had a staircase down to a huge basement prison that was just rows of cells. At the end of one of the rows lead to a really fancy fucking bedroom for my clown. I'd go out in town once a day, and make a single friend. I would then ask this friend to come over to my place, where I'd leave one cell open. When the guest had to pee or wash their hands or whatever, they'd walk into the cell, and I'd lock it behind them. Once a day I would manually drop an apple in the cell for them to eat. I had roughly 14 people held captive for about a month of game time before my save corrupted.

Its extremely dull despite improvements.
Expansions don't add enough to the core game and don't really do a whole lot compared to expansions in 2 or 3.
Which fucking sucks, because I can't stand dealing with the lag, stuttering, freezing and corrupt saves that occur in Sims 3 any more, despite it never getting boring for me.
