I don't know what it is but I don't really find Naughty Dog games particularly great looking. There's just nothing that jumps out.
As for your original question I'd say that the current best looking game is actually Driveclub, but only in specific instances such as driving first person in heavy rain or the absolutely bang on atmosphere of driving from a pitch black night into the break of dawn.
