If we're going to talk about linearity, Super Mario 3D World did a better job of transposing the feel of 2D Mario to a 3D setting better than Galaxy ever did. Linearity can be done well, but Galaxy was just boring.

I don't think Galaxy was meant to combine the 2D and 3D Mario games. Galaxy's platforming areas were better than Sunshine's platforming areas.

Like all the important things. Running by walls, climbing, turning around, being thrown by enemies...all these things make the camera go crazy. Nintendo even admitted this. Saying the biggest focus in Mario Galaxy was to improve the camera. Which they did.

Problem is, Mario Kart DS and Wii was a huge step down from the previous games. Thankfully, Mario Kart 8 is the best. In large part by fixing every issue Mario Kart Wi had.

I think it only appeared that way because of the level design differences between 64 and Sunshine. In 64 there just some areas that I could never see because the camera would not turn the way I wanted it.

Super Mario Advance and Super Mario 64 DS are the only remakes included since they are the biggest upgrades. So far, I have not played a fan game that has beaten the top five.
