Well, they want normals to buy the Japanese-as-fuck game. They think that if they change some names and removes some frightening bits of culture that Joe Normal's going to want to buy the game. The more they change, the more people buy it, is what they think. Yeah it should be obvious that it'll accomplish nothing other than pissing off the fanbase they no longer want, but at this point I'm convinced that big wigs live in a different world than us.
