Did I miss something from this update? Did Valve fuck up ranks and elo or something? I've been gone for about 2 months because of holidays, lost my rank as you would from not playing, and went from LEM to GN2. Apparently it's happened to others. Did Valve intentionally make smurfing MORE of a thing from this update?

When I first started playing comp, I was stuck in silver for a very long time. Silver and GNM were the absolute worst ranks to get out of. Elo system is just complete shit really.

i dropped from LE to MGE due to that same thing plus playing with my nova friends. Rank doesnt really mean anything, play FACEIT or ESEA if you really feel the need to be "fairly ranked"

ELO hell doesn't exist, just enjoy playing the game. Rank literally does not matter. Yeah if you are below MGE you pretty much suck but the game doesn't get any more fun when you climb ranks, once you get the skill to play at higher ranks you can never go back to rushing with P90 and doing dumb shit. Just enjoy it now and don't worry about ranking up.

You need to actually practice, go on DM servers 3-4 hours every day, play community comp, download aim training maps, analysis your replays and figure out what you did wrong.
You need at least 1500 hours of solid practice to get decent

You deranked because Valve redefined the ELO boundaries for each rank
They did this because the influx of new players and people getting better at the game in general had made some ranks really inflated (mostly on the low and high ends - huge skill gaps in nova and global elite)
