Braid had an interesting finale (before the epilogue) that works well with the rest of the game. It was a gimmicky novelty, but proposed an interesting twist since it dealt with the main gameplay mechanic rather than just the story by itself. Not many games do that, although it certainly wasn't the first.

The Stanley parable has an interesting narrative that made an statement about storytelling in videogames. The fact that this narrative is presented as a videogame makes the point being made even stronger. However, I don't think it adds much more to the HL hack.
It's the best example of well executed "meta-humor" in videogames I can think of, so it at least archived that.
Undertale attempted something similar, although in a much more metaphoric manner. A lot less effective than Stanley Parable, in my opinion.

Other games that utilize similar tricks (to warring degrees of success) would be Cryostasis (which utilizes a trick somewhat similar to Braid in terms of narrative contextualization of previously seeming purely mechanical aspect of the game), The Void and Pathologic.
The last one being my favorite of the bunch.

Pathologic is by the same people who made The Void, and the overal opinion, to which I subscribe too, is that it's a bit better. Both are amazing anyway, if you don't mind INCREDIBLY crude "gem's in the rough". Which basically means the game is a rock, and if you invest few months of your time to learn about geology and precious stone evaluation, you might start to see why some people are shitting themselves because of it.
When it comes to debate about games and art, I really think Pathologic and The Void are the very first games that should be brought up.

I didn't argue Braid Or Stanley were the best examples of games as an artform. I was just pointing out that the fact that they rise that question isn't completely based on pretensions.
