TiTS is a SRPG anon. It doesn't even use a time gauge to determine turns like grandia does. Your turn bar being visible does not make the battle system remotely like another one with a completely different turn system. May as well say FFX is similar by that point

That bar in the bottom right is what makes Grandia Grandia. There is literally no way to compare a strategy rpg to it and say they're similar. It just doesn't work when one's active time and the other is not.

In case your initial question is sincere, it's because it was an evolutionary dead end.
It's a hybrid RPG-tactical combat system that not many people liked, as otherwise someone would have indeed ripped them off.
