It mainly depends on what game you play to be honest. On we weekends we stream civ5 to the living room and use pass and play with the steam controller. In that setting its perfect and comfy as fuck.
I don't really use it for anything else that isnt turn based.

Stean controller is honestly the worst controller I've ever used imo.
Xbone/DS4/Wii U controller are gr8 tho
The steam controller is terrible. Small face buttons. Using the left touch pad as d-pad for 2d games is awful. Using the right touch pad for camera/as a mouse just makes me want to use a controller with a right analog stick or a real mouse. Did like the dual stage triggers. But, that was about it.
