Nintendo needs to make a console that's easy to program for with a bit more power than the PS4, with a new cool name and they need to start working with western third-party devs. The WiiU was a failure, mostly because of it's name and marketing, the lack of third-party support was just a cherry on top.

SMTXFE didn't have a chance from the start. Had they made a Fire Emblem Warriors, I'm pretty sure it would have sold a lot better this game, at least 50% since Wii U games in general don't sell a lot. Of course, it could be also made for the 3ds(like Hyrule Warriors was) and still make it sale. SMTXFE on the other hand, can't and its a lose-lose situation for both Atlus and Nintendo. It was a waste of money, time and resources they put in something that was destined to fail.

No, it's not quite that bad. And really, Nintendo's position isn't quite as bad as shitposters think/hope it is.
The Wii U's doing badly in comparison to its immediate competitors the XBOX One and the Playstation 4, true, but the 3DS still pulls respectable numbers in hardware and software sales and Amiibos are still printing money. The only people really displeased with the situation (discounting with the ones with an obvious agenda) are those who, for whatever reason, want Nintendo to remain the company they were during the 90s.
