Does anyone else feel bad for this game? It had everything going for it, and it all went wrong. If only they'd just fixed the camera I feel like this game would've been much better received.

Games rarely ever match up to their concept art. Epic Mickey's main problem was that the concept art was the very first thing people saw. If people only saw it after the game released like usual then people wouldn't give a shit, but since it was literally seen before the game was, it set up incredibly unrealistic expectations.
Especially for anyone who wanted it to have the spooky Silent Hill monsters. That shit was dumb. Anyone who actually expected that completely set themselves up for disappointment.

Those were simpler times.
I really love the concept of Epic Mickey. I love how it delves into Disney history and uses it as bases for characters and levels. Seeing a twisted dark world based on such an iconic place is also really interesting, and the concept art shows it, but the execution was poor. It's mostly the games formate I hate. Mean Street is suppose to be sort of the hub world connected to all the others, but there isn't anything to do there. The quests you have to do to open a new portal (and a lot of other locked doors and other obstructions) are tedious as hell.
I would honestly rather the game be more liner. The first level in the ClockTower Small World ride was the most fun part of the game. I liked going though this sort of broken amusement park. I liked the puzzles that made you feel like you were fixing or further destroying the park. I have a fetish for games centered around broken places and seeing it slowly get fixed as you progress. It's why I love Portal 2 so much.

Epic Mickey was a flawed but still enjoyable game.
Epic Mickey 2 is what killed the franchise and development studio.
95 percent of it was reused assets from the first game, and they didn't even fix any of the control or camera problems from the original game. The fact the buddy system was more of a hindrance than a help didn't do the game any favors either.

The pic must be a main attraction in DisneyLand then. There isn't really such an attraction at the Magic Kingdom unless you consider the People Mover such an attraction. Although those aren't really for transportation. There are also the Monorails that take you around the WDW resort (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, etc) but boarding those requires being outside the parks.

I'd like more levels in games to be themed around abandoned amusement parks. Not in horror exclusive games, but in other genres. I thing there are a lot of interesting ideas you could do.

As much as I loved some of the concept art one of the biggest problems Epic Mickey had was it was kinda buggy mixed with some frustrating controls, along with some tedious fetch quests. As much as the fanfare went I got really excited in some parts like the Clock Face boss and the Small World tune, and seeing the submarines from 20,000 Leagues ride. The Lonesome Manor disappointed me the most, it just didn't feature a lot from the Haunted Mansion ride beside the big ass stretching room, head busts and a Madame Leota character. But the exterior of manor is a combination of DL, WDW and Paris' Haunted Mansion which was pretty neat.
