Castlevania: Circle the Moons bosses starting with that locked up bull thing are fucking my shit up as i try to get into the series, f.am.
Wing commander 2 and all of it's expansions but i just replayed it and got my ass kicked so mabye there's harder games that i'm not remembering because WC2 is fresh in my memory.
Damn though this game is fucking hard. the enemy fighters are like 10 times better than in the first game and for over half the game you're flying the same fighter from the first game (which is shit now) and when you finally do get a "better" fighter it's actually way fucking worse but the missions still get harder after you get it.

The Wonderful 101 on 101% Hard difficulty is legit one of the hardest 'very hard' modes ever. I find it more doable than the previous two though.

Yeah I'm a casul but 1ccing EOSD on normal felt like a really big accomplishment. It took a ton of effort and perseverance but it paid off and felt amazing to do.

I think that was the games casual filter, I had to sit down and work out how the time mechanic would change the fight and after that it was nowhere near as difficult.
That level was understanding that the boss will dominate you as long as you're in the water so reach the upper level as fast as you can, then speed up to reduce the time spent in that phase until the water drains and combo the boss to death if you still have meter.

Put this on DMD, hit the club in mission 3, there was slight bruising on my fingers for the rest of the week.
Not sure if I'd say hardest since I was goofing around too much, but I was definitely smiling at how absurd shit got at one point. The room was just full of constantly teleporting DT Sloths I was jump cancelling off of to stay airborne while shotgun-E&I switching for my life.
I eventually got to Cerberus, cramped up and just died laughing. Literally. I was in too much pain and joy to even fight back.

Halo 2 on Legendary is just bullshit, this guy nailed it.. "find something more unfun" It was not fun. I had a friend who loved Halo 2, he played that shit every day, huge stoner burnout.. all he did was that for months.
The first level wasnt so hard, but the second is where it just gets ridiculous. He took like 2 months to get past the second lvl I think and IIRC (its been a while) he couldnt get past the flying part.

The lunge is the one thing I just sort of have to randomly slide to the side to pre-emptively avoid. Even if it doesn't come out at least I don't get near one shotted.
But it along with Vergil definitely feels like one the bosses actually designed with strategy of some sort. Others either felt too aggressive like Beowulf and Agni & Rudra, too puzzle orientated like Leviathan's Heart and Doppleganger, or too Catch Me If You can like Nevan, Geryon and Lady.

Populous the beggining was really hard for me, for the playstation 1, the memory card we had at the time wouldn't even save the amount of data needed for one game save for populous.
Beating the game in one sitting was impossible so what I'd do is play up until a certain point each time and try and beat it. My favorite mission was the 4 man free for all since you could play it really strategically, and I fucking hated the angel of death mission, that shit apart from being a boring waste of time was actually pretty hard. There was so much RNG that could fuck you up and set you back to the start.
Halo 2 legendary is objective answer, they pussied out for every subsequent halo game it was so nonsensically anti fun
